Predict the Playoff 4

Recommended Posts

I will preface this prediction by saying that it's probably no way in hell going to happen and is sort of a pipe dream playoff scenario, but it would easily be the highest quality for spectators as all parts of the country are represented, and these teams are all fun to watch.

Auburn - I think they run the table while Miss St drops one or two.

Winner of B1G conference - Either Mich St, Ohio St, or Nebraska SHOULD be a 1-loss conference champion and should have a spot - I'll guess Ohio State right now.

Oregon - I could honestly see them randomly dropping another game, but their remaining schedule isn't that difficult

TCU - They're about 1 minute away from being undefeated. Probably the most underrated team in the country.

First 3 out:

Notre Dame - Bummer.

Mississippi State - They've got Arkansas, Bama, and Ole Miss left to play. I bet they drop at least 1

Florida State - They have a really easy schedule left to play, so this is definitely hopeful thinking, but the way they've been playing, I'm hoping they slip up somewhere.

I don't know what to expect from the committee but I guess I can see that if they are picking the 4 teams based on the playoffs starting now, I can see 3 teams from the SEC West.

But if they are looking at the fact that those 4 teams from the SEC West will cannibalize each other in the coming weeks, then I think their top 4 will look different.

watching CFB and CFL over lunch was just making me sick. Listening to these guys wine and moan over any notion or possibility whatsoever that the SEC would only have one team. It's ridiculous. Danny Kannell is the only guy with the cajones to stand up. They all say the same things. "It should be the four best teams........". Well, how do we know the SEC is so god damn great? They dont play anyone out of conference of any more substance than teams of any other conference. Everyone knows why this propping up is taking place anyway. With all that said, here's what I think will happen. And this will not necessarily reflect this first poll. I think it's gonna be 4 conference champions. Plain and simple. In it's first year, it'll make it easy to decipher. I think between the Pac12, Big12 and Big10, one of those conferences is going to play itself out of the playoff through attrition. If two of them do, an independant Notre Dame *should* be there waiting at the door. I just dont see the committee putting two teams from the same conference in. Becuase again, how do we know the SEC is so damn great if they get away with playing each other. Look, last year the SEC lost the championship game. The year before, their team had to back their way back in, and got off playing a severely overrated INDEPENDANT (no other conference represented). In 2011, it was the abomination of two SEC teams in the national title game. in 2010 Auburn literally barely squeeked by Oregon. In 2009, they faced a freshman backup qb, who still had Texas within striking distance. Hell, 2008 is pretty much where you have to go back to so say, yeah, that SEC team was better than anyone else. So, I think they'll put in 4 conference champs, and then we'll see if the SEC champ-who's supposed to damn much better than anyone period-can win it all. If yes, sure, then we'll give the SEC more benefit of doubt in future years. If no, well then, they can all shut the hell up. And nothing would please me more than to see a Big10 team knockout the SEC rep in the first round.
