Golden Opportunity for B1G Football

Recommended Posts

My Revelation (or delusion of grandeur):

The Big 12 and the PAC 12 have stepped up their game this season. The SEC teams remains constant in the top 10. The ACC... has Florida St. The B1G has been desperate for recognition but continues to be seen as the weakest conference with Michigan being the new doormat for the conference and the decline or plateau of Husker Football. Michigan St., Wisconsin and Ohio St. are the teams to beat in the B1G, but they are not world beaters by any means.

This post season will be crucial for 2 of the B1G's most storied programs, Nebraska and Michigan. Odds are Michigan's Brady Hoke will be gone at seasons end and it is starting to look that way for Bo Pelini as well.

Nebraska has an annual budget of $70 Million and Michigan has an unbelievable budget of $135 Million annually. The B1G as a conference makes just as much as the SEC. That is a lot of money to be thrown around that could bring in some serious talent in key coaching positions to make this the conference to beat within the next few years. The question is, will Nebraska and Michigan take the opportunity to bring their programs back to dominance?

Money talks, and there is plenty of money to be tossed around in this conference. This is the best opportunity for B1G to take the reigns and become dominant once more.

3 of the top 4 programs are dumpster fires. not a formula for success.

When Tennessee football takes a nosedive, you have an LSU rise up to take their place. Can't and won't happen in the Big Ten since there isn't enough commitment to football from most of the programs.

Need to hire better coaches(not just HCs), need to recruit better and to schedule better.

I don't necessarily mean better teams on the schedule but we should start slotting teams like the SEC.

Take Sparty's schedule for next year
