Micheal
So the sand volleyball regular season is eight days long? Quote Link to comment
Mavric
Nebraska has started training for its sand volleyball season, and it comes with a ramped-up intensity in the program’s third season. The sport is still one year from becoming an official NCAA sport with a championship, but there is still something awfully important on the line for the Huskers as they train: a plane ticket for the trip to Hawaii. Nebraska will play its matches March 20-28 in Hawaii and Arizona. In most sand volleyball events, five pairs play against the opponent. That means Nebraska will only take 11 players on the trip instead of the entire team like previous seasons. There are 16 players currently training, but transfer Brianna Holman likely won’t be eligible and Meghan Haggerty will probably take herself out of consideration like last season. That leaves three players who probably won’t make the roster and get to go to Hawaii. “It feels way more serious,” Nebraska coach John Cook said of this sand season. “Hey, only four teams go to Omaha (for the NCAA indoor Final Four in 2015). We got to start instilling in them that there’s no free lunch.” Cutting down the travel roster will also be preparing the players for the 2015 indoor season. Big Ten Conference rules are that only 16 players make the travel roster, which hasn’t been an issue for Nebraska in the past. Nebraska had 16 players last season. It’s possible some players will leave the program this summer, as has been the case each of the past several years, but Nebraska could have as many as 20 players next season. Holman may not be eligible, and some players could redshirt. LJS Quote Link to comment
StPaulHusker
Our sand volleyball coach sucks. Needs to fired immediately. If you can't get your teams more focused to not get swept by USC, then good bye. 1 Quote Link to comment
hastingshusker
Did not all members of the team travel to play in sand season? Quote Link to comment
