Count 'Bility
We were that good while being that bad. 1 Quote Link to comment
BigRedBuster
That stat actually excites me. Fix this one stat and how much better are we as a team. Yes, there are other areas needed to improve. But, this is a major glaring problem that has got to get figured out. Also, this isn't just an offensive problem. 2 Quote Link to comment
QMany
I'm amazed that Oregon is #1 by that wide of margin, considering their style of play that has a lot of ball-handling, for lack of better word. 1 Quote Link to comment
teachercd
This is what excites me! Most of us want to believe that the turnovers were a product of the coaching staff...with a new, better, more experienced staff those turnover issues should be gone...which means more wins. Same with flags...most of us feel that was on the staff...with a new, better, more experienced staff those flags should decline...which means more wins! I see a very good season...11 wins! roadrat
Our defense through the last few years hasn't taken the ball away much either. I would guess during the Callahan years we had a better turnover margin, but yet a worse record. Interesting numbers but obviously stats don't always tell the whole story. 1 Quote Link to comment
NUance
Nice graph. But not the Big Red I want us to be. Quote Link to comment
Guy Chamberlin
The saddest part of that graph is that I haven't considered Nebraska a legitimate Top 16 team during that span. Quote Link to comment
admo
The defense could help create fumbles by changing some things up. For example, strip and punch techniques on the ball from the second or third hitting defender. Our defense was poor against the run and evident by a lot of whiff attempts throughout the years. But I believe a lot of that was designed positioning that created one on one situations with Bo's defense. It's tough to do in the Pros, even more so in college. When you lose those battles you don't execute. It's been forever since there was gang tackling within 5 yards of the line of scrimmage and forced fumbles in the trenches. On offense I know our RB's have coughed it up some, but most of those turnovers come from the QB position. And I'll safely bet that at least half of the turnovers come in Husker territory and creates short field position. Fumbles and interceptions will happen, but this team needs to improve in this area and take better care of the ball. And defense needs to improve their action plan on forcing turnovers too. Redux
That is a truly mind numbing stat. How does an issue CLEARLY the biggest difference between 9 wins and 13 wins get neglected for that long???? I could name multiole games that could have been changed dramatically by 1 or 2 less turnovers. Bo would have won like 3 conference titles and he would still be here in a cool seat. Well saave for the embarassments. Quote Link to comment

We're right there with Alabama and Oregon. Just shows that aggregate winning percentage isn't everything. Nebraska never finished better than 19th in any of those seasons, barely hung in the Top 25 at all. Quote Link to comment

You could have us winning the turnover battle against OU and Mizzou in 08 and still losing by double digits, same for Tech '09, Wiscy and Michigan '11, Wiscy and tOSU '12, Wiscy '14.
