Mavric Posted March 5, 2015 Share Posted March 5, 2015 The Nebraska men’s basketball team set some more history Wednesday night you don’t want to remember, finishing Big Ten road play 0-9 with a 69-57 setback at Illinois. The last winless road mark was Danny Nee’s final season (1999-2000), when the Huskers went 0-8 in the Big 12 and 0-9 overall in true road games. Nebraska is 1-11 on the road this season, with the only victory Dec. 1 at Florida State. The loss was the seventh straight and ninth in the past 10 games. Nebraska, down 31-23 late in the first half, got the final basket of that period and scored the first 11 points of the second half to take a 36-31 lead. Junior forward Shavon Shields had seven of his team-high 14 points in that surge. Illinois reclaimed the lead at 37-36 with 13:26 left — the first of five lead changes in the next 3½ minutes. The Huskers gave up the lead for good with 11:28 to go on Illini senior guard Rayvonte Rice’s 3-pointer. He missed Illinois’ loss to Nebraska in early January with a broken hand.
