Most CFB Wins, Last 40 Years (1975-2014)

Recommended Posts

This doesn't even include the Devaney championship years. I think it shows that every school has had down years, and we never fell too far nor for too long.

Yeah, that's what caught my eye as well. I've usually seen it dating back to about 1970 to catch those years. This is missing the first two championships plus has a .... sub-par last 15 years. But we're still about two years worth of wins ahead.

Serious question

Wheres all the SEC/southern programs?

Beating each other up, obviously.

OK, seriously, that's kind of true, there is an ebb and flow of who is up and who is down. Even Alabama had some 3, 4 and 5 win seasons which is tough to make up. And some of those schools had to vacate wins in a few seasons. Wikipedia shows Alabama vacated 21 wins 2005-7 and 8 more in '93.

Also, the SEC really has only been as deep as it is now for the last 10-15 years. There were always some good teams, but not as many each year, and the names did change.

Your pretty much correct. Go back and look at the history of the SEC and look at teams records. This dominance they have shown over the last 10 years is not something that has ever happened to them before. Most of there teams have been very up and down throughout their history. Alabama has probably been the most consistent and even they have had some pretty bad teams since 1975. Up until Steve Spurrior got to Florida they were a very up and down team, that was mostly down. LSU would have a couple of good season then be down for 2-3 seasons. The same was true of Auburn. Georgia was always decent but nothing real earth shattering.
