Mavric
A Husker spokesperson confirmed Thursday that Alicia Ostrander, a 6-foot-3 outside hitter with the Nebraska volleyball team, will also play basketball. Ostrander is a walk-on with the volleyball team but may be on basketball scholarship this season. She was a two-sport star at Gordon-Rushville High School, averaging 18 points her senior season in 2011. Ostrander was more known for her rebounding talent; in her high school career, she had 10 games with 20 or more rebounds and her career high was 30. She finished her career with 994 total rebounds. With the graduation of four-year starting forward Emily Cady, Ostrander's help in the post will be welcome. The Huskers have 6-foot-5 center Allie Havers, 6-3 forward Anya Kalenta and 6-2 redshirt freshman Darrien Washington. Also joining the roster is five-star, national-top-five recruit Jess Shepard, who is 6-4. Shepard continues to rehab after season-ending knee surgery last winter. OWH Quote Link to comment
