Mavric
After eight seasons with the Nebraska volleyball program, assistant coach Dan Meske has accepted the head coach position at Augustana in Sioux Falls, S.D. "Dan has been with us for eight years and done a great job," Head Coach John Cook said. "We are super happy for him to be able to take this next step in his career as the head coach at a great program. What is really impressive about Dan is that he started with us as a graduate manager in 2007 and worked his way up to an assistant coach position starting in 2011. He is a great example that when you pay your dues and work hard, great things will happen for you." In his eight seasons at Nebraska, Meske helped the Huskers to a 216-44 record, three Big 12 Championships, a Big Ten Championship, eight NCAA Tournament appearances, six regional finals and an appearance in the 2008 NCAA Semifinals. Meske takes over an Augustana program that finished 18-10 last year and 11-9 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. Meske will look to lead the Vikings back to the NCAA Division II Tournament, where they haven't been since 2008. "I am so proud of the time I have spent with Nebraska volleyball," Meske said. "Coach Cook has been a great mentor, and I can't thank him enough for constantly challenging me to be a better coach and person. The decision to leave was a hard one for my family and me, but at the end of the day the time was right. Laurel, Ryne and I will be the biggest Husker volleyball fans in South Dakota, you can count on that." Huskers.com Quote Link to comment
