True Freshmen Davis Twins May Begin at Defensive End

Recommended Posts

"Coach Hughes came by last month and talked to us about playing defensive end," Carlos Davis said. "I'm not sure where we'll start out, but it'll be somewhere along the defensive line. I'd prefer to play inside, but it doesn't really matter where we play. We'll play all positions."

At Blue Springs (Missouri) High School, Carlos and Khalil played tackle and a kind of modified end as seniors. Though 275 pounds, they're agile and quick and enough to rush quarterbacks from the edge, whipping around offensive tackles and chasing quarterbacks on the perimeter.
If they get a look at defensive end, they'll join a crowded group of players all trying to make their mark. Besides McMullen and Gangwish, Nebraska has redshirt freshmen Freedom Akinmoladun — who converted from tight end in the offseason — and Sedrick King, sophomore Sedrick King, Plattsmouth junior walk-on Ross Dzuris and senior Joe Keels. Incoming freshman defensive ends Alex Davis and DaiShon Neal join the fray this summer along with the twins.
