Recommended Posts

mr buffet, one of the world wealthiest people, is one i wonder how much he supports nu. oregon has a very wealthy supporter, that spent millions on that program to make it one of the coolest places for a athlete to be at.

i wonder why mr buffet does not give nu a few milion (pocket change) to upgade nu facilities like oregon, ,,,nu would probably be able to pursuade more recruits if he did.

It's more than likely because he's much too busy buying politicians. All one really has to do is follow the money with regards to why the Keystone Pipeline has never been built. When the top guys at Lehman Brothers are calling Buffett for advice on whether something passes the "sniff" test before they disclose they've defaulted, Warren has much bigger things in mind rather than Husker football.

Warren Buffet is very well known for his philanthropy and also a dedicated fan of Nebraska football. I think he's a man who's got his priorities in order and we're all better for it, never mind NU athletics.

I don't have a problem with guilt about money. The way I see it is that my money represents an enormous number of claim checks on society. It's like I have these little pieces of paper that I can turn into consumption. If I wanted to, I could hire 10,000 people to do nothing but paint my picture every day for the rest of my life. And the GDP would go up. But the utility of the product would be zilch, and I would be keeping those 10,000 people from doing AIDS research, or teaching, or nursing. I don't do that though. I don't use very many of those claim checks. There's nothing material I want very much. And I'm going to give virtually all of those claim checks to charity when my wife and I die. (Lowe 1997:165–166)

He's pledged to give 99% of his fortune, most of it through the Gates Foundation.

Could not tell if OP was srs or not. Not sure how to react. :confucius

As far as why does Mr. Buffet not buy a nice new toy, thats not a very Nebraskan attitude.

Maybe while daddy war bucks is at it, could he just bribe the other teams to lose?

I know it baffles some conservatives how the most successful capitalist of his generation can be a Democrat, but some of the conspiracy theories regarding Buffett don't pass the sniff test, either.

It's also quite advantageous to Nike that Oregon does well. Whether you like it or not, they are the leading team when it comes to uniforms. Seeing that on TV and especially in championship games is great for business. If that happens to be the same team you root for everyday, win-win.

How many jersey variations do they have? Whatever is your favorite color. They have it. Nike makes the jerseys, so they make money.

I know a lot of sports fans that own something Oregon related made by Nike.

The better question to ask is why people like Knight and Pickens waste money and turn college football into an arms race when there are much better things they could be doing with it. It's Buffet's money. Wonder how much the OP donates to Nebraska, or if he just wants to squawk about what he thinks someone else should be doing with their money.

I dunno if I trust the source but have heard Buffett has written buyout checks before.

Conspiracy theory or not it's not hard to understand that him donating to dems doesn't indeed help prevent the pipeline when BNSF currently profits off of hauling oil. Funny how his train oil spills don't make splash headlines like other environmental spills do. He's a good businessman, but he's a shark.

Buffet has given plenty to the University of Nebraska.

But he needs to give that money to the football team, and only the football team!!!! NU needs a retractable roof dome put on Memorial Stadium with dorms attached to the stadium so that the players never have to leave the stadium except to go to class!!! They also need a locker room built under the football field, so the team has each player can have a huge individual locker with 50 inch 4K curved screen, couch, PS4 and XBox One, and hot co-eds at their service in the locker room. Buffet needs to stop giving money to "charities" and fund the Nebraska football charity!!!
