Mavric
This is great. Hopefully it sinks in. 5 Quote Link to comment

Mavric
Sounds like TA definitely looked the best in the first practice. Same story on Darlington - very accurate and anticipates his throws well but not as strong of an arm. Speculation that the coaches are working on Bush's mechanics or thinking a little too much. Didn't have the same zip, like he was kind of aiming it. Quote Link to comment
Sargon
That news sounds pretty good for 1 and 2. I'm very interested to hear what comes out regarding TA's accuracy now. Bush will need time IMO to see if he can develop mechanics/accuracy that'll work. Hope he does he seems to be a heck of an athlete. Quote Link to comment
Mavric
Sounds like Darlington and Bush have been getting very few reps in team periods. TA got almost all the reps with Fyfe getting a couple snaps here and there. Quote Link to comment
Mavric
Tommy Armstrong has all the arm strength you'd want, and when he knows where he's going with the ball - and his footwork is good and the receiver is open - he looks steady. When he gets rushed, and he's forced to stand in the pocket because the nature of the routes demand that, he isn't as steady. And when he misses open receivers, especially up the middle of the field, that's frustrating for wideouts. That said, he's looked OK, and probably better than A.J. Bush, Zack Darlington and Ryker Fyfe. On Sunday night, Fyfe got his most extended opportunity yet. He didn't look much different from Armstrong in that setting, and he had a sharp couple of throws in the first part of the practice. Fyfe, Bush and Darlington mostly look the same in 7-on-7 drills. girlknowsfootball
I really hope Wilson doesn't jump ship to Oregon. We really need 2 quality solid QB's in this next class. If Armstrong goes down this season we have no one behind him who will be as good. Quote Link to comment
Redux
Darlington can step in if TA goes down. He wouldn't be required to run as much since we have plenty of RB depth. Plus Fyfe has limited experience. Not enough to make me super comfy but enough that he could deal if the situation required it. Quote Link to comment

Well you won't likely get the deep ball with Darlington as much as you would with TA but as long as you have a strong running game, that wouldn't be an issue. Quote Link to comment

Hmmmm, that seems odd compared to what I thought would be happening but it must mean they need TA to get a lot of work Quote Link to comment

As long as the chains keep moving forward it will be fine. Quote Link to comment

You better focus on getting one guy executing the new system before you think about getting two or three guys executing it at a high level. Developing a backup is important, but developing a starter is more important. Been spending the last few months trying to convince some of you that this is kind of how it goes. Quote Link to comment

Get the one guy as ready as possible. With Riley's knowledge and Langs working with TA I have faith! Quote Link to comment
