Breaking Down the B1G

2. Nebraska

Last year: 23-10, 14-6 (advanced to NCAA Elite Eight)

First glance: Nebraska should be better than last season, which was a below-average year — except for that big win against Penn State at the Devaney Sports Center and a major boost at the end with an upset of Washington in the NCAA Sweet 16. How do the Huskers take the next step? To start, being better than the fifth-best defensive team in the league, like last season, and new setter Kelly Hunter helping get more production from the right-side and middle-blocker positions.

LJS: Tools to Train the Huskers

All the tools serve a purpose. A rope stretched across the net is a target for the players to aim their serve, between the top of the net and the rope.

A hula hoop placed on the floor provides a visual for where the dig needs to go.
A road barricade is used for a digging drill, and also makes a pretty cool sound when hit with a big kill or jump serve.
Large wooden boxes can be used to work on a player’s arm swing, or as serving targets.
