Doesn't mean I'm saying that the coach should help ban those players for being apart of the program, but it means that their opinion is only their opinion. Quote Link to comment
Landlord Posted November 3, 2015 Share Posted November 3, 2015 Part of it was the LP thing, and part of it was the sense that the homestate kid abandoned his destiny by going to Stanford, then rode in all high and mighty and was gifted the keys to the kingdom. Also probably doesn't help that Scott is a very intense, potentially brash guy. I'm sure he didn't back down to anyone. Quote Link to comment

Who is to say if he goes someowhere first, he will even be available the same time we are looking for a coach? Look, we are pretty much "rebuilding" now while Riley is here and for the forceable future. So why not give it to the hands of a young up and comer who can rebuild it... I think Frost would be smart enough to surround himself with experienced coaches in the assistant positions. Frost will only be a coordinator for so long, it's about time he gets a HC gig somewhere. And what if he just dominates at a place like Houston or Memphis? He suddenly becomes a hot name and IF we are even trying to get him we will probably have to compete with other big time programs. 2 Quote Link to comment

It's just rare for a guy's first HC gig to be at a major program. Malzahn did have a year at Arkansas St., but the rest of the names are more than enough to prove a point. Honestly look at the past couple hires we've made that had head coaching experience, Callahan and Riley. I don't think experience should be a determining factor. If a guy can coach he can coach, and Frost has a great track record that he can coach. He's done it on both the offensive and defensive side. Quote Link to comment
