Nebraska High School Players - Class of 2017

Recommended Posts

I am interested to see more from Jordan Strong. Played NT and RB at Omaha North. Calvin Strong's brother.

Hope to see him do some camps this summer and get a 40 time, vert, that sort of thing. At 6'3" 250 I could see a DE.

Austin Allen from Aurora is one to watch. 6'8 215 right now. Great hands, very fluid for his size. Sean Callahan says he is on Nebraska's radar. Has the frame to put on 20-30 pounds, imo.

Playing in Class B state championship now.

Hopefully he doesn't have the off the field issues that were Calvin's demise. Sad too that kid was ultra talented

This is 6'8 Logan Strom out of Norfolk. He's a close friend of mine and I told him I'd help him out by getting some views on his tape. He's already been in contact with Tim Miles since Basketball is his number 1 sport. He didn't get as many targets as he should have this year but I think the number will go up quite a bit next year! Thanks to anyone who takes their time to watch it :)

Seeing that Cordarrius Bailey moved to Mississippi (where he is originally from) over winter break.

That hurts. Was going to be nice having that caliber of recruit at a position of need within view of Memorial Stadium.

Quite a few prospects for 2017, here are my thoughts.

Locks for offer:
Tyler Ciurej - Oline BellWest
Jack Begley - DB/Ath Millard North

Probably:
Austin Allen - TE Aurora
Brett Kitrell - DT/OG Ashland Greenwood

Outside chance:
Jaylin Bradley - Ath/RB BellWest
Noah Vedral - QB Wahoo Bishop
Sterling Smith - WR Southeast
Patrick Arnold - Oline Gretna
Tim Dishman - Line Malcom

Not a Nebraska kid anymore but was and legit talent:
Broc Bando - OG/DT IMG Academy
Cordellious (sp?) Bailey - DE Mississippi

Watched Austin Allen play last year against Elkhorn South. Super athlete, but he needs to put on some weight. He probably deserves an offer.

With the bigger class I'd probably offer the top 4. The first two you gotta get early. Allen and Kitrell you can probably evaluate through summer and early fall.

There is a poster on Husker Max that really knows his stuff, especially in the Metro. Posts by the name ShortSideOption. He says Ciurej supposedly would be interested in OU if they were too offer and Begley is a Notre Dame fan. Thinks we'll need to get on Ciurej early and possibly Begley.

Has anyone seen both Arnold and Kitrell play? Based on measurables and limited film I've seen, I'd say we should offer Arnold before Kitrell but it seems public opinion is the opposite...

Edit: In regards to OP - It's Brett Kitrell, not Bo. Bo is older brother and is already enrolled at NU.

Fixed it, thanks. I think the reasoning for Kitrell over Arnold is on offense both would project at OG and there is talk OG might not be a big position of need this cycle and they'd have Ciurej over both at the position. So the speculation was Kitrell getting an offer at DT (where we will probably take 2). Take 1 local DT then go get 1 stud would be the theory.

Watched him play basketball on Saturday. Great athlete. Probably not quite as tall as you would like for a QB but I can see why he's getting a look.

Watched him play basketball Saturday. Moves REALLY well for a guy that big.

I would think we'd take a flier on him and see what kind of match-up problems he can create. Especially in a bigger class.

Kid has athletic gifts for sure--work ethic I'm not sure about, everything has come pretty easy for him in his life. Could be a D1 Tackle imo but never could give up handling the ball. Probably best if he pursues bball but he didn't have near the year most thought he would. I would guess he lands up north with Hagedorn.

you seem to know a lot about him. I used to teach a Norfolk public. Strom was only a 6th grader when I stopped teaching so I don't really know him. A friend that still teaches there doesn't really care for any of the Jr's on the team says they are a real arrogant bunch. He says that Matt Hagadorn is going to be better and most likely bigger than his brother.

Looks to be only about an inch shorter than Dalton. There are a lot that say he is probably a D1 BBall recruit also.

TCU would be pretty tough to turn down. Great school, up and coming program, hot girls everywhere on campus, and Fort Worth is a pretty cool city to live for 4-5 years.

I'm friends with a couple of the juniors on the team, I will admit that a couple of them are cocky. But when it comes to sports with Strom, he will work harder than almost anyone I know. He wants to succeed. Not sure how much Mary Pats knows about him but I can tell you that I wouldn't guess that he ends up playing with Hagedorn again.

Fair enough, as I said I don't know the kid because I had moved on before he got to teaching level. All I know is what he has told me. I watched Strom's tape for football, I don't think he looks like a D1 TE. Too slow and too easy to bring down. Could be a decent tackle.
