Delaware State went 18-18, reached the title game of the MEAC Tournament and played in the CBI in 2014-15. The Hornets had to replace four starters from that team, including Kendall Gray, who was the MEAC Player of the Year, and Amere May, who led the MEAC in scoring at 21.2 points per game. Second-year coach Keith Walker returns seven letterwinners and just one starter. DeAndre Haywood is the team’s most experienced player, as he started 19 games and averaged 6.3 points per game in 2014-15. With a young team, the Hornets played 13 players in the 62-56 loss to Delaware in the season opener and were led by Devin Morgan’s 10 points. Against Penn on Tuesday, Haywood came off the bench and led DSU with 13 points and five rebounds, while Morgan finished with 12 points and four assists. Nebraska leads the all-time series, 3-0, although the teams have not met since the Huskers’ 68-39 victory on Dec. 8, 2003. Quote Link to comment

HuskermanMike
We need to stop putting a lid on the basket!. Turnovers and bad shots with bad defense has allowed Delaware State to get back into this game. This team needs to score with more consistency because we can't allow teams to make runs on us they made a 21-0 run and that is inexcusable. The reason is we settle and we don't give ourselves a chance to score and this needs to be addressed at practice to attack instead of settle when other teams get on a run. Quote Link to comment

TonyStalloni
This drought seemed different than the one vs V a few nights ago. In this game, NU had the game in hand and both the team and the crowd were ready to go home and bask in the victory. When they woke up the lead was down to 4 pts. We certainly need to find a go to play or player to stop the dry spell much sooner. Quote Link to comment
BigRedBuster
19 assists are a HUGE improvement from past years. Quote Link to comment

I believe it takes someone to step up and make a few plays to get the rest of the team's minds back in sync. That doesn't mean throwing up shots that don't have a prayer. It means someone stepping up their game to the point they are playing sound basketball and making a difference. That can be either on offense or defense. Actually, I would prefer it on defense. Defensive takeaways that lead to fast breaks with numbers advantages change the mood and flow of the game. Quote Link to comment

During much of the scoreless stretch, White was on the bench. Miles is trying to make the bench players better and see who plays well with how. We just need to continue to improve. And arguably, the default "Leader" of this team (by virtue of age/experience/talents) is Shields. Unfortunately, during the drought, he was the one missing shots and turning it over. The atmosphere and effort for most of night from the crowd AND the team was listless at best. Quote Link to comment
Mavric
Didn't realize until I read it in today's OWH that Delaware St. is winless and was missing their leading scorer and leading shot blocker. Ouch. It might really have been interesting.... Quote Link to comment
