He is NOT a grad student. This is a traditional transfer. He will sit out 2016. Currently he will only have 1 year of eligibility left in 2017, but he's requesting another year to be granted so he can play in 2018, too.

Grad students don't have to sit out a year aka Russell Wilson at Wisconsin and Everett Goldston at FSU. It has something to do with the date he graduated and some other confusing NCAA rules that they probably don't understand either.
