Spring Position Battles - Running Backs

Huskers working on some two-back sets with Ozigbo playing a pseudo-fullback along side Newby or Wilbon.

Both Newby/Ozigbo and Newby/Wilbon in the two-back sets. So maybe not as much a fullback look as letting Newby motion out of the backfield.

As well as Wilbon, he's our big play back IMO

Is anyone else scared that Newby is looking like the top dog at running back again? I just dont like him with the ball in his hands at all, doenst run with any determination and as soon as someone touches him, he is down.

So far he has been splitting time with Ozigbo and Wilbon equally, from the sounds of it.

Ziggy is all we got.....we are woefully thin at RB for the first time in quite awhile.

Some notes from Sam

» The running game appears to have more oomph. At least in the practices we’ve attended, NU has spent less time perfecting the jet sweep — don’t worry, it’s not going anywhere — and more time on bread-and-butter zone and draw plays. It’s highlighted the strengths of Devine Ozigbo and Mikale Wilbon the most.

» Wilbon is among several highly touted recruits starting to make their move in Year 3 of the program.
