The General Election

Recommended Posts

Might as well be Satan vs Hitler as far as I'm concerned. I just cannot develope a genuine interest in this election cycle. Any of the choices are so sad it is just plain pathetic that we as a country are in this position. I find it extremely annoying when the news coverage has been interrupting tv programs to give us updates on which liar/cheat/criminal/douchebag/poor excuse for a human being won a particular states primary. I don't care at all. They all suck terribly and it just seems an absolute waste of time to spend one minute more than necessary being reminded how futile this election cycle is.

Saw this on another site...pretty funny...about Cruz not knowing anything about sports and then a quick jab at all the rest

For a second, I wondered if maybe they called it a "basketball ring" in Canada. Like they say "marks" instead of "grades," or "zed" instead of "z," or they "write their exam" instead of "take a test." But I don't think that's the case.

Seriously, this is the most depressing election ever. These are our choices? We have:
- An orange, racist, narcissistic blowhard with zero political experience.
- A guy who is so weird and out of touch that using the term "basketball ring" barely even registers as embarrassing.
- Possibly the most corrupt and dishonest person to ever run for president since WWII.
- A guy with a vision for the country that is so unrealistic he may as well propose we pay for it by selling unicorns.
- The only decent candidate in the entire race, who is unfortunately so boring he makes Mitt Romney look like Keith Moon.

It really doesn't matter much as the Nation is basically FUBAR already, proof positive evidence is Hillary barely winning over a socialist coot while the Donald apparently will win to oppose her. At this point, the fact that the electorate is about to choose between an evil witch who makes no attempt to conceal her diabolical ways that offers absolutely no real world business or economics or military or social skills having never been employed in an actual working job in her life and a self absorbed real estate mogul that has had more business failures than 99% of the business managers in the world with absolutely no political or social or military or economics backgrounds.

What, pray tell, do either 'the witch bitch' and the 'loud mouth' offer America at a time in its history when we need a great leader with superlative skills in social, political, economic and military matters on a global scale?

Yes, I understand that Americans are rightfully pissed. Socialist economic policies of the past twenty years have led to massive increases in poverty, unemployment, family disintegration, education failure, international chaos on a global scale, the distruction of the American dream of leaving the next generation better off than the prior one, etc. There is really nothing positive going on anywhere frankly. Stock market propped up with massive government 'investment', deficit spending on a biblical scale with unprecedented 'zero interest rate' environment that nearly every economist would have said prior to 2008 was nearly impossible and insane and a Federal Reserve and Congress afraid to even discuss realistic budget and fiscal policies for fear of tipping the entire world in global economic abyss.

Sadly, we are well beyond the point of no return and this general election is glaring proof that it doesn't matter which one wins, we are all losers.

Looks like it'll be Trump vs. Clinton.

Here's a nice chart showing their predicted % of votes. It includes lots of polls.

I guess the two best men from each party will be facing off.

Trump isn't a man and neither is Clinton.

Wow...#Offensive

Are you saying Clinton is some sort of alien?

I was using man in the general sense

+1 to you sir.

That may be the best summary of this list of POS candidates I have seen yet. Pretty much nails them all perfectly.

Another excellent synopsis of where we really are. +1

Rasmussen has them even at 38% with this interesting note. A lot of people may just sit out this GE if it is Clinton/Trump. Others plan on voting for a 3rd party :

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of Likely U.S. Voters finds Trump and Clinton tied at 38% each. But 16% say they would vote for some other candidate if the presidential election comes down to those two, while six percent (6%) would stay home. Only two percent (2%) are undecided given those options. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

Trump is more toxic within his own party than Clinton is in hers. If Trump is the Republican nominee, 16% of GOP voters say they would choose a third-party candidate, while five percent (5%) would stay home. Sixty-six percent (66%) would vote for Trump, but 10% would vote for Clinton instead.

If Clinton is the Democratic nominee, 11% of Democrats would vote third-party, while three percent (3%) would stay home. Seventy-five percent (75%) would support the nominee, but 11% say they would vote for Trump.

Among voters not affiliated with either major party, nearly one-third say they would opt out: 21% would choose a candidate other than Trump or Clinton, and 10% would stay home. Trump leads Clinton 38% to 27% among unaffiliated voters.

I have absolutely no clue what I am going to do. I could not vote in the Presidential race, vote for 3rd party....or......I have actually thought about voting for Hillary just as a revolt against Trump and the Republicans. She's going to win anyway, so it really doesn't matter what my vote is.

Teachercd basically sums up my feelings on every single one of these candidates. Funny thing is, there were a couple of his descriptions that I wasn't sure of which one he was talking about.

Absolutely pathetic.

I would push back on the idea that Kasich is the one decent guy in the race. He cultivates that persona for himself, and can get away with it due to his relative obscurity, but he's not overwhelmingly popular in Ohio. He's actually kind of a jerk.

I feel like the rest of you without a dog in the fight might be able to get behind this guy:
