Alabama's assistant coach Bo Davis to resign

Bo Davis may have left Alabama with an NCAA cloud hanging over his head, but he did so with a little financial parachute to soften the blow.

According to the Tuscaloosa News, Davis was paid nearly $317,000 by the university on Aug. 19. The payment came nearly four months after the offensive line coach submitted his letter of resignation in the midst of allegations that he had committed NCAA violations on the recruiting trail.

A UA spokesperson told the News that the payment was “to resolve disputed claims related to his separation from the university.” Based on language in Davis’ contract, the athletic department could’ve fired Davis with cause; why the August payment that pushed Davis’ salary to a level beyond what his contract called for is unknown.
