Gun Control

Recommended Posts

Does this sound like a guy who's prepared to greatly decrease the scope of the government?

That was about the least conservative, small government answer he could've come up with. Perhaps if he had said environmental regulation or gun control it could have been worse...

I find it particularly rich he makes a comment about not "giving the enemies ideas" regarding the military. Since when does he care about not inflaming our enemies?

The Pulse nightclub massacre in Orlando, Florida is the deadliest Islamic terror attack in the United States since the terror attacks of 9/11.

49 people were murdered in the slaughter, and 53 more were wounded. Despite claims from the Orlando police that the terrorist did his damage in the opening moments of the attack, we know for a fact that he was still killing people at least a half-hour into the event.

The terrorist began shooting outside Pulse at approximately 2:02 AM. It was at least 37 minutes into the attack when Eddie Justice was gunned down in a Pulse bathroom, along with others patrons. He sent his last text at 2:39 before the terrorist entered the bathroom he was hiding in, and opened fire.

These are facts we know

Law enforcement officers failed to get any effective hits on the terrorist outside of Pulse before the terrorist made it inside. Officer Adam Gruler was working security and engaged the terrorist with his handgun, but failed to make any effective hits. Lt. Scott Smith and Sgt. Jeffrey Backhaus, both also SWAT officers, were in the first patrol unit to arrive on-scene. They also failed to make effective hits.

The terrorist was then able to enter the club.

and the gun used was not an AR15, they are not the same thing, except in looks

we are a few steps away from a tyranny in America. It's scary stuff when you really think about it...

Agree 100%. Trump must be stopped.

I have no words for the stupidity of this comment.

I know.

That's what makes it scary.

No, what makes it scary is that Hillary is the one that will continue to balloon the government until we live in a tyrannical socialism and Trump wants the scope of the federal government greatly decreased.

What is also even more scary is that people would rather believe a ton of media and political propaganda that makes them believe it's the other way around.

Most of people's opinions on Trump come from the words that come out of his mouth. The press pretty much just has to show clips of him talking.

What law would strop that very same person from getting a gun? Remember they just snapped, allowing them to get guns in the first place. Waiting 2, or 3 or 4 days? how would that have stopped this guy? it wouldn't have!

Let's assume for a second a country where there is a single database of gun permits/ownership, where it takes longer than a few hours or a few days to clear the application process, and where you get flagged for such things as past mental illness, misdemeanors, etc.

Now let's assume that Person X has had a mental breakdown and wants to kill himself and others with him. He has a history of seeing a counselor at younger ages, and has been a productive member of society but takes pills for depression.

He immediately needs to buy a gun. He goes to Scheels. Well, they can't sell it to him without a permit. So then he has to go apply for one. In the process of applying, the database shows his non-criminal yet still flagged history so he has to do a psych eval or whatever.

Maybe in that process he is denied the permit and never gets access to a very efficient tool for killing. Or, maybe he still does get the permit. Even then, it's likely taken him at least 2 weeks, in which time he might come out of depressive rage, someone might see a warning sign that he's suffering from some mental ailment, he might kill himself by some other means (psychotic people aren't necessarily known for their patience), etc.

Simple, non-oppressive restrictions and safeguards make for an environment where there are better chances for this story to turn a different direction. They don't stop it outright, but they give him and the people he wants to target more of a fighting chance.

Now you tell me, what are the cons of laws like this? They obviously don't protect everyone from everything, but you can't say that they wouldn't stop at least ONE person in our country from killing a bunch of others. You can't say that at least ONE of the 23 toddlers that have gotten their hands on guns this year probably wouldn't have been able to were regulations like this in place. So what's the downside that doesn't make saving even a few lives worth it?

Yes, I see your response and it is all very neat and proper, unfortunately it isn't that neat and proper like.

You yourself say it might and might not have helped.. So, you just want to throw something at the problem and HOPE it works? That is your response? And the 1 in 23 toddlers.. how would that stop them from getting a gun? Can toddlers buy guns now? This is nothing but a big "maybe this maybe that".

So, in your mind this country is no longer about individual freedom, it is more about group safety?

The problem isn't guns, you do understand that, right?

I want to add to this.. a semi-automatic weapon is NOT an assault weapon. A large number of typical hunting rifles are semi-automatic. The problem is it LOOKS mean so people call it an assault weapon.

This also proves that a number of people are only parroting what they hear on TV!

Destroy radical Islam, not the right of law-abiding Americans to protect themselves.

Americans were shocked and disgusted to learn of another act of terrorism on our soil, this time in Orlando. In the aftermath of this terrorist attack, President Obama and Hillary Clinton renewed calls for more gun control, including a ban on whole categories of semi-automatic firearms. They are desperate to create the illusion that they’re doing something to protect us because their policies can’t and won’t keep us safe. This transparent head-fake should scare every American, because it will do nothing to prevent the next attack.

The terrorist in Orlando had been investigated multiple times by the FBI. He had a government-approved security guard license with a contractor for the Department of Homeland Security. Yet his former co-workers reported violent and racist comments. Unfortunately, the Obama administration’s political correctness prevented anything from being done about it.

I don't have any idea where this guy got this information. I don't see a link in his tweet.

The only guns I know you have to register with the ATF are NFA ones. The actual number of firearms in the state is much, much higher than that.

Not doubting that a bit. The number seemed awfully low to me.

However, I am surprised that we are 41st in the country when Wyoming is 1st. Seems odd to me.

So we shouldn't address gun violence, gun safety, or gun security, or accessibility? Just terrorists?

yes we should to all of those but the last one... enacting more gun control won't do anything.

Why exactly do you think more gun control (which includes deeper background checks, perhaps pscyhe evaluations prior to purchase, etc.) won't do "anything?" You legitimately believe it would have absolutely zero impact on the situation?
