Husker Fans Show Up at Unmatched Levels

Recommended Posts

University of Nebraska fans showed why they were the "Greatest Fans in College Sports" in 2015-16, setting attendance bars at unmatched levels across 10 programs during the season.

Nebraska ranked among the top-15 nationally in attendance in football, men's basketball, women's basketball, volleyball, baseball, soccer, wrestling, men's and women's gymnastics and likely softball in 2015-16.
The Huskers set single-season average home attendance records in both volleyball (8,206) and softball (1,006), while producing eye-popping increases in baseball (34%) and soccer (279%).
During the fall and winter sport seasons, Nebraska led the nation across the board in total attendance in its five primary team sports, attracting 1.17 million fans to Husker home events in football, volleyball, soccer and men's and women's basketball.
"Our coaches, student-athletes and our entire athletic staff recognize and acknowledge the tremendous support that our fans provide our student-athletes with their attendance at our events," Nebraska Director of Athletics Shawn Eichorst said. "Our coaches and student-athletes appreciate the great game-day atmosphere and home-field advantage that these large crowds help to create at all our venues."
Nebraska football ranked 10th nationally in total attendance (629,983) and volleyball dominated its sport as the No. 1 attendance team in the country (147,714). Soccer, which ranked 13th nationally in average home attendance at 1,381 fans per game at the new Dr. Barbara Hibner Soccer Stadium, added 12,427 in total attendance during the fall sports season.
"I love talking to people who care, and people in Nebraska care more than anybody," Nebraska Football Coach Mike Riley said. "They love their team, their school, their state."
The Huskers also packed Pinnacle Bank Arena during the winter months with the men's basketball program ranking 11th nationally in average (15,430) and total attendance (277,739).
"It says a lot about Nebraska fans," Men's Basketball Coach Tim Miles said. "They come out and support us. There is no place like Nebraska."
The Big Red women's basketball program ranked No. 9 nationally in total attendance (102,682) while ranking 12th with an average home attendance of 5,404 fans per game.

I wasn't sure which seven sports they were counting. I would not have guessed women's soccer to be in there with football, volleyball, men's and women's basketball, baseball and softball.
