BIG ERN
Feel free to post your edits on players as well. This gives a good snapshot going into the season on where we are at with talent. I think this team has several players who are on the cusp of turning the corner, but being realistic, we don't have a lot of 'great' players heading into the fall. Of course the player ratings are based off of the game which is no longer-- NCAA Football. If it were coming out this year, below are the projected player ratings. QB Tommy Armstrong: 88 Ryker Fyfe: 80 AJ Bush: 79 RB Terrell Newby: 86 Devine Ozigbo: 84 Mikale Wilbon: 83 Tre Bryant: 78 FB Jordan Harrison: 80 TE Cethan Carter: 88 Sam Cotton: 82 Trey Foster: 80 Matt Snyder: 78 OL Nick Gates: 87 Dylan Utter: 84 David Knevel: 83 Jerald Foster: 80 Tanner Farmer: 80 Michael Decker: 78 Jalin Barnett: 78 WR Jordan Westerkamp: 92 Brandon Reilly: 88 De'Mornay Pierson-El: 87 Alonzo Moore: 86 Stanley Morgan: 86 Derrion Grim: 79 ----------------------------------------------------------------- DE Freedom Akinmoladun: 86 Ross Dzuris: 84 Daishon Neal: 79 Alex Davis: 76 DT Kevin Maurice: 85 Mick Stoltenberg: 82 Carlos Davis: 81 Khalil Davis: 79 LB Michael Rose-Ivey: 88 Josh Banderas: 87 Dedrick Young: 85 Marcus Newby: 83 Chris Weber: 83 Tyrin Ferguson: 82 Mohamed Barry: 79 CB/NB Josh Kalu: 86 Chris Jones: 83 Lamar Jackson: 80 Eric Lee Jr: 79 S Nate Gerry: 89 Aaron Williams: 84 Kieron Williams: 83 Antonio Reed: 80 Avery Anderson: 79 ------------------------------------------------------- SP (K) Drew Brown: 86 (P) Sam Foltz: 92 1 Quote Link to comment
cm husker
Believe that Armstrong was the highest rated recruit coming out of HS that's starting in the B10 this year, save Barrett. He has a rare combination of speed, size and passing ability. I'd say his skills are in the low to mid 90s. In general, I think you're a bit hard on our players. Guys like Gerry, Kalu, and Westy are too low, but I guess i need to see how you rank other rosters to understand the context. But to me, guys who are rated as the best at their position in the B10 are at least 94 level guys, and in some cases should be higher. Quote Link to comment
Hoosker
Wait, how did you come up with these rankings if the last game came out in 2013? Did you download an updated roster via another xbox/ps3 user and copy those? Or did you just use your best judgement? Quote Link to comment

I still update them myself each season and play a few games here and there since it's the only option. This was using my best judgment on the ratings. Keep in mind, that in 2012-2013 when EA did the ratings we only had one player over 90, Rex Burkhead. That was a different year with different talents but just wanted to let some know how they are sometimes rated. Quote Link to comment

That roster really was pretty thin in the senior ranks. It may have been one of our overall thinnest rosters, which probably due to the effect of the massively mismanaged roster left behind by Callahan, which meant a transition class (2008) and two small classes due to numbers constraints (only 36 freshman signed those two years). Definitely left the team thin in terms of upperclassmen. Therefore, it might not be the best roster to use as a point of reference, but I understand why you did with it being the last provided by EA. husker98
God I miss getting a new NCAA football game each year. I still got a 30 plus season dynasty going with some friends on the last one they made. Here are my thoughts. QB Tommy Armstrong: 92 - 80 ish throw accuracy, but high end running ratings and arm strength. Ryker Fyfe: 80 AJ Bush: 77 - I have him bumped down a couple pegs. POB: 75 - RB Terrell Newby: 85 Devine Ozigbo: 85: - lower stamina and speed rating than newby but much better run vision. Mikale Wilbon: 80 - bumped him down a couple, he's good but still needs some more development. Tre Bryant: 80 - I hear nothing but how day one ready this kid is, so I'd give him this. He would be that rare 80 recruiting gem three star FB Jordan Harrison: 80 TE Cethan Carter: 92 - bumped him cuz this dude is a freak when healthy Sam Cotton: 82 Trey Foster: 80 Matt Snyder: 73 - Snyder is good but I reserve the high 70's for early contributors, I think he is a little more developmental yet. OL Nick Gates: 88 - he is better than 86 imho Dylan Utter: 84 David Knevel: 83 Jerald Foster: 80 Tanner Farmer: 80 Michael Decker: 78 Jalin Barnett: 78 WR Jordan Westerkamp: 92 Brandon Reilly: 88 De'Mornay Pierson-El: 87 Alonzo Moore: 88/90 - Moore was really good for us last year, and he did that while hampered by injuries. Stanley Morgan: 88 - only a couple ticks up but this is where I have him. Derrion Grim: 77 - took him a couple down just cuz I think he redshirts and is still a developmental prospect, but one with an enormous upside. ----------------------------------------------------------------- DE Freedom Akinmoladun: 87 - great stats but with a average injury rating Ross Dzuris: 84 Daishon Neal: 79 Alex Davis: 76 Ben Stille: 71 Collin Miller: 70 DT Kevin Maurice: 87/90 - I watch Maurice and can't decide, I think he is a 90's high 80's guy though. Mick Stoltenberg: 82 Carlos Davis: 81 Khalil Davis: 80 - Dude has been gaining ground here lately Peyton Newell: 79 - I don't hear much on him so idk where to rate him LB Josh Banderas: 88 Michael Rose-Ivey: 90 - Great stats but a lower injury rating. Dedrick Young: 85 Marcus Newby: 83 Chris Weber: 83 Tyrin Ferguson: 82 Mohamed Barry: 79 CB/NB Josh Kalu: 87 - Finished strong last year and is looking better this year Chris Jones: 86 - same as Kalu Lamar Jackson: 80 Eric Lee Jr: 79 S Nate Gerry: 94 - 89 is way to low for him, I have him at 94 hard hitter safety on my save and he plays a little closer to real life. Aaron Williams: 84 Kieron Williams: 83 Antonio Reed: 80 Avery Anderson: 79 Marquel Dismuke CB/FS: 78 - I got him at FS, not sure if that's right or not. ------------------------------------------------------- SP (K) Drew Brown: 89 - this seems a little better for him I think. (P) Sam Foltz: 97 - he's one of the best punters in the country, so yea. Quote Link to comment

That was a different year with different talents but just wanted to let some know how they are sometimes rated. That's not because we didn't have talent, its' because that was a year that EA reset their ratings inflation. Every few years guys would keep getting rated higher and higher and higher and higher, but slowly, so you end up with a semi-broken game where everyone is in the high 70's to high 80's, when in reality, you're judging this out of 100. Not everyone is a B player. Quote Link to comment
zoogs
2012 was one of Nebraska's thinnest rosters? And that was because of Callahan? I really gotta avoid the football forum sometimes. On ratings, yeah, it doesn't make very much sense to me if all players are in the 80s and all starters are in the 90s. Teams get really indistinguishable from one year to the next. 2 Quote Link to comment

Thinnest in terms of the upperclass. And yes, Callahan's unbalanced classes did take multiple cycles to iron out. Quote Link to comment
