Mavric
I mean, I know cold therapy and such. But can someone fill me in on this? Where would this be done? Quote Link to comment
Malth
Uh, something tells me he's standing behind that thing. -302F would probably instantly freeze your body. Not sure if srs :/ Quote Link to comment
commando
some sort of joke i assume. Quote Link to comment
ColoradoHusk
It's not a joke. Cryotherapy is an alternative to ice baths or cold packs. It is that cold (below -100 degrees Celsius) and the players are in there for 2-4 minutes. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cryotherapy 1 Quote Link to comment
commando
i can't imagine the pain that could cause. i've been in -90 f and it hurts the instant you step into that weather. -300 is insane. hope no one gets frostbite for staying in there an extra 10 seconds. Quote Link to comment

One of my physics instructors in college put his hand in liquid nitrogen in front of the class. Just for a few seconds though. He explained that there's a bit of a barrier that is formed so it would cause harm until the cold started to penetrate into the body more. I thought 2-4 minutes would be past that threshold but apparently not. Quote Link to comment
knapplc
The process works, but evacuation takes a while. 7 Quote Link to comment

Sparker
It's proven to be extremely effective according to every single marketing pamphlet I've ever come across. There are a couple version of this- full body and neck-down. Full body is more of a freezer you walk in to. I think they only allow 2-3 minutes max at a time, and you'll have to work up to that. 30-60 seconds for a first timer is likely. From what I've heard, anyway. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8T0Lp8eCin4 Quote Link to comment
ScottyIce
T.O was the first guy to do it I think.. or made it big. Did it to recover in time for super bowl with eagles. Quote Link to comment

FrankWheeler
For all of the science based performance that Nebraska is trying to tout, I find it odd they would be using this. https://www.sciencebasedmedicine.org/whole-body-cryotherapy/ https://www.sciencebasedmedicine.org/cryotherapy-a-laymans-attempt-to-understand-the-science/ https://www.sciencebasedmedicine.org/cold-reality-versus-the-wishful-thinking-of-cryonics/ Quote Link to comment
husker98
I know they initially used these for medical treatments but what for idr, but you have to be careful i did read about a girl who froze to death in one of these a few years back. Quote Link to comment
