This is going to sound crazy, but who believes that with enough luck Nebraska could run the table to a CFP playoff berth?

Obviously a lot of guys need to get healthy, a few bounces of the game have to go our way, etc.

Sports have had parity lately, not saying that Nebraska is anywhere close to as talented as Alabama is right now, but hey, crazier things have happened.

Wisconsin has 2 losses in conference, the next game is pretty much a play-in game to the Big Ten title game, and now that Ohio State might not go since Michigan is now in position for a title game berth. If Nebraska slips up to either Wisconsin or Ohio State, but wins one of them, then its automatic berth in the title game, obviously it would be more fortunate to lose to Ohio State so Nebraska holds the tiebreaker over Wisconsin. But even with a loss, and a win over either a 1-loss Ohio State or undefeated Michigan would be easily enough for a playoff berth. Would have to be 12-1 or 13-0 after the B1G title game to get in.

Then it would be nice to get matched up with the opposite side of Alabama, cause of course they are going with how ridiculous they have been all year, defending CFP champions. But Ohio State beat them in 2014 in the semifinal, so doesn't really matter where you see Bama, you're gonna see them either way.

But of course this is most likely a pipe dream, but in the event of a CFP berth, how do we know this won't be another 2001, where they had good wins but not a signature win against an elite opponent, I would compare this years Alabama close to 2001 Miami, which is arguably the most talented team of all time, not the best TEAM of all time, which obviously goes to the '95 Huskers.

So what could happen?

As Iowa and MSU proved last year, it's a far sight different to get into the CFP and be competitive than it is to win a B1G division or even a conference title.

That said, all a team can do is give everything they have and put itself into position. So far, so good and a split of the next two games would be fantastic, and even if we did lose to Wisconsin we'd still be in control of our destiny.

I like with all the perceptive of how strong the B1G is this year, they totally sh#t the bed in last year's CFP. Obviously we saw that Michigan State was just smoke and mirrors, given the loss in Lincoln where they blew a 12 point lead in the last 2 minutes, then Tim Beck gifted them a victory by refusing to use his stud RB in Ezekiel Elliot.

Ohio State was the B1G's best team last year, followed by Michigan, followed by Michigan State, then Iowa, with that weak schedule.

But if Nebraska is to slip up it would be best to be against Wisconsin, since B1G championship is the first and foremost goal, a CFP berth or national championship would be a cherry on top.

I'm not trying to drink all this Kool-Aid right now, but for some reason I like doing it.

We're literally halfway, in a back-loaded schedule. If we win the next two game, feel free to start the discussion.

Ye have little faith, why not have this thread start right now, so it can keep going towards January?

I'm just a realist. I have no doubt that we could win out and make the playoff, but the odds are low. Here is my estimate:

Odds of:

Undefeated regular season + winning CCG: 2000:1

Undefeated regular season 1000:1

1 loss regular season: 10:1

2 loss regular season: 1:1

3 loss regular season 1:1

Flights to Vegas out of Grand Island are cheap, might as well get on the plane now.

Hey, we have on this board for quite a while, and I appreciate what you're saying, but I have been a negative person for so long, and this is the time for me to realize that we need to just give in and believe. Nothing else to possibly do, just like the tunnel walk intro says,

"

If we should win,

Let it be by the code,

With faith and honor held high,

If we should lose,

We’ll stand by the road,

and Cheer as the winners go by.

Day by day,

We get better and better,

Til we can’t be beat,

Won’t. Be. Beat."

I think we have a:

33% chance of beating Wisconsin

25% chance of beating Ohio State

80% chance on the next two

75% chance beating Iowa

25% chance beating Ohio State/Michigan

10% chance in semi finals

2% chance in finals

100*0.33*0.25*0.8*0.8*0.75*0.25 = 0.99% chance of winning the Big Ten Championship

*0.1*0.02 = 0.00198% chance of winning the National Championship

Wisconsin has 2 losses in conference (True), the next game is pretty much a play-in game to the Big Ten title game (False - NU could win and lose the next four; lots of scenarios left), and now that Ohio State might not go since Michigan is now in position for a title game berth (False, all OSU has to do is beat Michigan and they're in. Assuming PSU does not win out). If Nebraska slips up to either Wisconsin or Ohio State, but wins one of them, then its automatic berth in the title game (False, NU has 3 other games besides those 2, so its not an automatic berth), obviously it would be more fortunate to lose to Ohio State so Nebraska holds the tiebreaker over Wisconsin (True). But even with a loss, and a win over either a 1-loss Ohio State or undefeated Michigan would be easily enough for a playoff berth (If NU is left standing with 1 loss coming out of the big10 it wouldn't matter who they played from the east, NU would be in the playoff). Would have to be 12-1 or 13-0 after the B1G title game to get in (True).

Then it would be nice to get matched up with the opposite side of Alabama (Obviously), cause of course they are going with how ridiculous they have been all year, defending CFP champions.
