Can we have a discussion about this show? It may not be for everyone, but Anthony Hopkins is AMAZING in it and so are all the other actor(s)esses. The premise is stellar and I was hooked from episode one. With the 1st season finale coming up. What are your guys thoughts on the show so far and what are your predictions?

Yeah, WW looks great! I've caught bits and pieces since it premiered, but hadn't seen a full episode. A few days ago I decided to start from the beginning on Comcast demand. Watched about half of episode 1. Then my six year old kid walked in. Had to switch channels because, well, you know.

When I get a little free time I'm going to binge the hell out of WW and get caught up!

i haven't watched it at all....but it reminds me of a movie from the 70's (maybe late 60's). is this show based on that movie? if so it does have an interesting back story.

Yes. The 1973 movie was written and directed by Michael Crichton (author of Jurassic Park). This show is written by Jonathan Nolan (Chris' younger brother), and produced by J.J. Abrams, and takes the general concepts and underlying ideas of the film and expounds on them quite a bit with a ton of added mystery and intrigue and, obviously, 40 years worth of technological advances.

Damn, now I'm hooked on another 10 episodes a year show. Thanks HBO.

Right? and unlike GOT they can veer off a million different ways and have the show go a long while.

They're taking their time with this one unlike with True Detective. Don't expect season 2 until 2018.
Sweet. So it can stay towards the bottom of my list for a while.

Finally got around to semi-binging WW and watched it all over the past 2 weeks. Amazing show, very well done. I always liked the old 70's movie but this series is much deeper and complex. Hope they get season 2 cranked out sooner rather than later but at least they sort of wrapped things up for season 1 so the wait won't be too excruciating.

Off topic but, it used to seem like movies did the best job and series like these were a little 2nd rate. But that just isn't the case anymore. GoT, WestWorld, Breaking Bad, and many others just seem far superior to any movie anymore.

Movies now are just about eye porn for the most part. That's why we have 20 something Transformer movies, and 80 other super hero movies. Honestly I watched Fences tonight and while I wasn't blown away it made me think a hell of a lot, and I loved it for that.

Rant aside, miniseries and the like are where it's at. Story tellers aren't limited to a less than a 3 hour time block. They can focus more on character and plot development, and less on keeping the watcher's attention for multiple hours. It's truely a great thing.

WW hasn't really hooked me yet, but neither has GOT after a decade (or so it seems), but I do like it so far after 2/3 of a season!

TV has become the new golden medium for storytelling. Mostly with the rise in funds to go around, but also coinciding with the deplugging trends leading to business models that aren't based entirely on, "Okay you get a season but you need to tell a story that could just end right there or keep going because we're not going to tell if you get another season after that", people are able to tell some incredible long-form stories through television now. It's freaking awesome.
