Post some city where you've been. Any place in the world. Or not even a city—just a place.

Here, I'll start ...

New Orleans, Garden District. It's right next to Bourbon St., but a much better place to stay, imho. We stayed near this trolley line which was a fun way to get around.

Hanging Lake, Colorado

Hiked to it in April when the top half of the trail was still covered in ice even though it was 55 degrees. Nearly died on several occasions. Still get mild goosebumps when I think about it. At one point I stepped slightly off trail to avoid sliding off the mountain and my leg went down into the snow all the way up to my upper thigh (I feel slightly sick right now just writing about it) and I almost couldn't get out and my boot almost came off.

This thread is going to make me jealous. There are so many foreign countries I want to travel to. Planning to start in the next few years.

Corn Palace, Mitchell, South Dakota. That's not paint on the sides, it's corn. Every year they redo it, and it looks a little different.

I have been very fortunate - with no kid's college educations to save for I make it a priority to explore. It's the best way to open yourself up to different people, cultures and opinions. A few: Australia, Scotland, Namibia.

Pull the trigger Moraine! I figure I can do all the local stuff when I'm old ... get the long flights out of the way while you're young.

The university alumni group actually does some pretty cool trips if you like to go in groups.

Google your own images of the Northern Island of New Zealand. Auckland,Wellington for two and a half weeks in college playing two football games.

I could also say watch Lord of the Rings or Last Samuri as those were filmed in NZ, but mostly on the south island

La-Flor-de-Venezuela-Un-%C3%ADcono-de-Ba

Barquisimeto, Venezuela

Mid 90's, before Hugo Chavez. I'm not sure I would go there now.

Had to bribe their customs officials to get out of the country. Went there on business and some other guys (who we didn't know) on the flight down suggested we put a $10 or $20 bill in our passport whenever they asked for it. Not having any experience with such things, I figured that would likely cause us to get in trouble, bribing officials and such. So, when we're about to board our plane to leave, this customs guy in a military uniform asks to see our passports, goes into another room with them, waits about 5 minutes and returns and tells us our papers are not in order. This happens 2 or 3 times over about 20 to 30 minutes, all the while they have us situated in this little room with a window where we are watching the other passengers board our plane. We're starting to get nervous. So, the next time he asks for them, we each had put a $20 inside. He returns promptly this time and releases us to get on the plane.

Niagara Falls (Canadian Side)

Went to a little town outside of Toronto on business and made a day trip to the see the falls.

It was mid January and the falls and all the walkways and railings were frozen over much like this picture.

Anyway, looked around a bit, snapped a few pictures and then spent a few hours in the local casino trying to figure out how much I was really gambling with since it was Canadian money with about a .75 conversion factor.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

Stayed at the hotel on the left. Had lunch one day in that little thatched roof hut on the left. One of the best things I've ever eaten- a seafood soup with prawns and scallops and all kinds of stuff but notably octopus- big purple colored chunks of leg with the tentacles still on it. It was excellent.

Bloomington, Indiana. I came very close to moving there a few years ago. I still think it would be a great place to live.
