Excel
My Picks: Maryland vs. Boston College (toss up) Minnesota vs. Washington State Northwestern vs. Pittsburgh Indiana vs. Utah - won't be close Nebraska vs. Tennessee (toss up) Michigan vs. Florida State - won't be close Ohio State vs. Clemson - close, turnovers will be key Iowa vs. Florida - toss up but Iowa is trending up and UF is trending down Wisconsin vs. Western Michigan Penn State vs. USC 5-5 1 Quote Link to comment
nic
Maryland could take BC. that one is even. Picking Iowa might be a stretch. Quote Link to comment
Excel
Maryland could take BC. that one is even. Picking Iowa might be a stretch. Yea, agreed. None of these games are easy to pick. As a conference we could go 8-2 or just as easily go 2-8. These are close. Quote Link to comment
Michiganball
All games but one as usual are likely at other teams home states or their conference zone. So... These teams should't even be in bowl games. Maryland vs. Boston College Minnesota vs. Washington State Northwestern vs. Pittsburgh Indiana vs. Utah And the rest. Nebraska vs. Tennessee It's basically a home game for them. Michigan vs. Florida State Toss up, UM might just not give a damn. Ohio State vs. Clemson Clemson is not very good, to many close ones vs mediocre teams. I didn't look where they play though. Iowa vs. Florida - toss up for me also, Wisconsin vs. Western Michigan Penn State vs. USC Hard to play in their home state with the time zone to boot, but USC is meh and Penn is up..........or are they? Mavric
Another reason why I don't understand Washington over Penn State Quote Link to comment
QMany
Pretty much all bowls are going to be away games for the Big Ten, but there are some tough draws here. No. 3 Ohio State vs. No. 2 Clemson Glendale, Ariz. (University of Phoenix Stadium) No. 5 Penn State vs. No. 9 USC Pasadena, Calif. (Rose Bowl Stadium) No. 6 Michigan vs. No. 11 Florida State Miami Gardens, Fla. (Hard Rock Stadium) No. 8 Wisconsin vs. No. 15 Western Michigan Arlington, Texas (AT&T Stadium) Iowa vs. No. 17 Florida Tampa, Fla. (Raymond James Stadium) Minnesota vs. Washington State San Diego, Calif. (Qualcomm Stadium) Nebraska vs. No. 21 Tennessee Nashville, Tenn. (Nissan Stadium) Northwestern vs. No. 23 Pitt Bronx, N.Y. (Yankee Stadium) Indiana vs. No. 19 Utah Santa Clara, Calif. (Levi's Stadium) Maryland vs. Boston College Detroit, Mich. (Ford Field) Quote Link to comment
Creed
I like the B1G NY6 match ups aside from Mich having to play FSU in Florida and PSU playing USC in LA. B1G has 4 in NFY6 but that comes at the expense of some bad match ups for the B1G in the lower tier bowls - Indiana playing Utah and NW playing Pitt. Also, SEC getting home field again with Iowa at Florida in Tampa and Neb vs Tenn in Nashville. The only clear advantage for B1G is Wisc over WMU. Quote Link to comment
Excel
It's the same old draw...games against better teams in their own backyards, then we take crap for struggling. Quote Link to comment
Creed
So I assume the B1G is taking home the most money during bowl season with 4 in NY6 bowls? Quote Link to comment
Creed
It's the same old draw...games against better teams in their own backyards, then we take crap for struggling. Yep. Most years extra B1G teams that travel well will get selected to BCS/NY6 bowls in order to fill seats and hotel rooms. That has a trickle down effect in having mismatches for B1G teams. Then teams like Tenn, UGa, etc will get lofty rankings next year's pre season poll. Quote Link to comment
GSG
So I assume the B1G is taking home the most money during bowl season with 4 in NY6 bowls? I dunno if it's the most, but it's a lot! W. Scott G. emails: What is the possible payout for the B1G from the New Year 6 Bowls and playoff? Huge? Brian Bennett: Huge. According to estimates on the College Football Playoff website, each conference will receive $6 million for placing a team in the semifinal and $4 million for each team in non-playoff New Year's Six bowls (there's no additional payout for the national title game). I'm no math major, but that adds up to $18 million of extra income for the Big Ten, in addition to the $300,000 each league team gets for being NCAA APR bowl-eligible and the $55 million guaranteed base payout. Yeah, it's good to be the Big Ten right now. http://www.espn.com/blog/bigten/post/_/id/139762/b1g-mailbag-ohio-state-penn-state-top-5-in-17-purdue-bowling-soon 1 Quote Link to comment
Mavric
So a Minnesota team that was 4th in the B1G West and didn't want to play a couple weeks ago holds Wazzu to their lowest point total of the season. Gotta love Pac-12 defense! 2 Quote Link to comment
nic
Minnesota impressed today. Let's hope the B1G can keep it up. Quote Link to comment
