*UNVERIFIED* Russians Blackmailing Trump with video of him with Sex Workers Engaging in Golden Showers

Recommended Posts

Here's the take I was waiting on:

Glen Greenwald: The Deep State Goes to War with President-Elect, Using Unverified Claims, as Democrats Cheer

THERE IS A REAL DANGER here that this maneuver can harshly backfire, to the great benefit of Trump and to the great detriment of those who want to oppose him. If any of the significant claims in this “dossier” turn out to be provably false — such as Cohen’s trip to Prague — many people will conclude, with Trump’s encouragement, that large media outlets (CNN and BuzzFeed) and anti-Trump factions inside the government (CIA) are deploying “Fake News” to destroy him. In the eyes of many people, that will forever discredit — render impotent — future journalistic exposés that are based on actual, corroborated wrongdoing.

Beyond that, the threat posed by submitting ourselves to the CIA and empowering it to reign supreme outside of the democratic process is — as Eisenhower warned — an even more severe danger. The threat of being ruled by unaccountable and unelected entities is self-evident and grave. That’s especially true when the entity behind which so many are rallying is one with a long and deliberate history of lying, propaganda, war crimes, torture, and the worst atrocities imaginable.

That's a scenario easily fixed if you look at what CNN reported. They wrote that the dossier exists (it does) and that it's been circulated for weeks (it has) and that both Obama and Trump have been briefed on it by our Intelligence experts (they have).

CNN is not endorsing Buzzfeed's more extraordinary claims, and labeling CNN's coverage as "fake news" is disingenuous and unlikely in the face of actually reading what CNN reported on.

If anyone believes this is "fake news," they're guilty of exactly what Trump wants them to do - fall for his schtick.

Think about it. How could anyone blackmail Trump? He's untouchable. His followers believe anything he says or does, they don't judge or think about it, they just nod and go along with him.

So Russia has some juicy, seedy video of him of the most salacious nature. So what? They release it, The Donald puts out a tweet saying, "The Russians are trying to blackmail me but real Americans know sex is between consenting adults. Sad!" Literally nothing would happen to him, no supporters would leave him.

This is the same guy who boasted that he could shoot a man on Fifth Avenue and not lose any voters.

Just to add, the Greenwald piece looks at the document in a vacuum--this document has been in official hands for some time now, and any substantiation of the claims within this document aren't going to be made readily available for multiple reasons (e.g. assets used to verify cannot be revealed due to risk of exposure of other, more important work).

This isn't CNN teeing off with *just* the document in of itself--it's using this document as narrative to fill in the games for other accusations and oddities, including (but not limited to) the known bank transfer/communication from Russia (that Trump denies), the known communication Trump has had with Putin's inner-circle and known Russian organized crime operatives (that Trump denies), why Trump won't release tax returns, why Russian diplomats and leadership celebrated Trump's GOP assent and win, and so on.

There's been a lot of bizarre behavior that this document helps to piece together, and more than enough circumstantial evidence that instead of holding hearings on his cabinet picks, we should only be swearing in Pence *shudder* and holding off on Trump until this can be thoroughly investigated.

I actually think this would be quite destabilizing. And if true, it would seriously compromise Trump to the Russians, more so than he is apparently eager to volunteer already.

But of course it would fit into Russia's playbook. They are no friends to Trump, and he's a blind fool to suppose otherwise. They propped him up because he is far less competent, and that's a good quality in an adversary. He's also far easier to destroy, and again, chaos and domestic turmoil are very useful for Russia. It doesn't have to destroy Trump, it only has to consume America, and there's no way it won't or shouldn't -- the alternative is to rally behind this guy, and we can't all just do that.

He may not lose support from Americans that support him, but it would surely be enough for Congress (from both sides of the aisle) to act on removing him from his position. Personally, I don't think even Republicans would need much convincing.
