CheeseHusker 423 Report post Posted January 12, 2017 Nah, none of those. I don't really drink much beer at all; I'd rather have something with rum or vodka in it. I drank Australian beer for awhile and got used to it, then came back, and nothing really did it for me. I don't really drink a whole lot anyway; overconsumption runs in the family a bit.

obert1 157 Report post Posted January 13, 2017 NBA basketball. These days I'd rather watch a good college game where they play defense and have some teamwork. Agree 100%. Haven't turned an NBA game in for years. Would add mad dog 40/40, malto-meal and my 7th grade teacher.
Comfortably Numb 5,736 Report post Posted January 13, 2017 Tang. I'm gonna have to get some of that and try it again. Haven't had any since I was a little kid and I loved it then. Circus peanuts. Remember those pale orange colored marshmallow candy things. Used to like them, can't stand 'em now. Seems we always had some of those in the house along with burnt peanuts and Boston baked beans. I still like to have some of those once in a while.
Landlord 8,262 Report post Posted January 13, 2017 malt-o-meal definitely belongs. yuck. as far as the NBA, it's probably never been more of a team sport than it is right now. at least not within the last 25 years.

Comfortably Numb 5,736 Report post Posted January 13, 2017 as far as the NBA, it's probably never been more of a team sport than it is right now. at least not within the last 25 years. We are talking about the National Basketball Association, right? Team sport? Not now, and not at anytime in the last 25 years. I played a lot of basketball and used to love the NBA. Lost complete interest about the time Dennis Rodman came on the scene. Bird, Magic, Pistol Pete....those were the days. And the teams actually tried to stop each other from scoring. Imagine that....they played defense.

Team PPG is on par/or lower now, then it ever was in the 60s, 70s, 80s or most of the 90s. The "in my day" argument doesn't work here.

The topic is things you did like and don't anymore. The NBA is in that category for me. If you like it today, or think it's better than it used to be, good for you. You have a few more options during basketball season than I do. I'll take a college game every time over the NBA.

Landlord 8,262 Report post Posted January 13, 2017 We are talking about the National Basketball Association, right? Team sport? Not now, and not at anytime in the last 25 years. Indeed. I didn't say it is a team sport, just that it is more team-oriented than it has been in decades. You see it in things like the big 3's over the last decade in Boston, Miami, etc., and you also see it in the playing and coaching style of the best teams in the league ala the Spurs and Warriors. If you don't watch it, how would you have any idea?

I mean I'll check out part of a game from time to time and maybe watch some of the playoff games. But I watch way less than I used to. I just don't find it entertaining or compelling anymore.

I think this has to do with your gender. My wife hasn't made it through an entire movie without falling asleep in years, unless we go to the theatre. I think it depends on the movie. If it's a good movie (not some chick flick), I stay awake and she falls asleep. If she picks the movie, I'm usually out within 15 minutes.
funhusker 976 Report post Posted January 14, 2017 Movies suck! When I was a kid it was the most exciting thing to go to the gas station and pick out a movie or if we were really lucky to go the theater. Now the theater overcharges (probably did in 80's, but now I'm paying), and you can rent any movie still in your pajamas. I haven't found a movie in years where within 20 minutes of starting it I find myself wondering if it is the best use of my time... So I usually watch movies at night, which means I opt for sleep.
