Things you did like...but don't anymore

as far as the NBA, it's probably never been more of a team sport than it is right now. at least not within the last 25 years.

We are talking about the National Basketball Association, right? Team sport? Not now, and not at anytime in the last 25 years.

I played a lot of basketball and used to love the NBA. Lost complete interest about the time Dennis Rodman came on the scene. Bird, Magic, Pistol Pete....those were the days. And the teams actually tried to stop each other from scoring. Imagine that....they played defense.

Well, if they played defense in those days, they weren't very good at it. Team PPG is on par/or lower now, then it ever was in the 60s, 70s, 80s or most of the 90s.

The "in my day" argument doesn't work here.

It works for me. The topic is things you did like and don't anymore. The NBA is in that category for me. If you like it today, or think it's better than it used to be, good for you. You have a few more options during basketball season than I do. I'll take a college game every time over the NBA.

Indeed. I didn't say it is a team sport, just that it is more team-oriented than it has been in decades. You see it in things like the big 3's over the last decade in Boston, Miami, etc., and you also see it in the playing and coaching style of the best teams in the league ala the Spurs and Warriors.

If you don't watch it, how would you have any idea?

Good point. I don't have a very good idea what it's like anymore. I mean I'll check out part of a game from time to time and maybe watch some of the playoff games. But I watch way less than I used to. I just don't find it entertaining or compelling anymore.

Nah, none of those. I don't really drink much beer at all; I'd rather have something with rum or vodka in it. I drank Australian beer for awhile and got used to it, then came back, and nothing really did it for me. I don't really drink a whole lot anyway; overconsumption runs in the family a bit.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to be a dick. I thought maybe you just meant you gave up stuff like Bud Light, Miller Lite, etc.
