2018 BIG Board

Recommended Posts

Here are some 2018 recruits with offers/interest in Nebraska. Truly believe we are in better shape for 2018 than 2017 when it comes to the top recruits. I see Nebraska 17-19 commits for 2018.

QB Tanner McKee: 6'6 215 with his athleticism doesn't come along very often. Rated in the top 200 on all sites. Great release and footwork. Same HS as Taylor Martinez. Will be a tough pull but is going on a two year mission. If he does land at NU do they still recruit other QB's?

QB Colson Yankoff: 6'4 195 Another athletic QB but more dual threat than McKee. Gatorade POY in Idaho. Would be our first commit from the state of Idaho. Former commit to Oregon. Competition isn't great but he just dominates every game. Langs visited within the last two weeks. #5 Dual Threat and 101 overall on 247. More polished than Armstrong as a passer so don't worry about the DT tag..

RB TJ Pledger: 5'9 185. I have a hard time not putting him as my #1 prospect on our board. Can Davis finally recruit a big time RB? Was a SoCal kid going to the same HS as Newby but has transferred to IMG Academy. Kid reminds me of Ameer Abdullah but has the break away speed. High 4 star on all sites and could see him getting the 5th with the new exposure. I feel he really likes Oklahoma but things change.

RB Grahm Roberts: 6'0 210. More of the "pounder" type running back like Devine Ozigbo. Brother of Avery Roberts so I would assume Nebraska has the inside track here. 3 star with offers from UNC and Syracuse as well.

WR Jalen Hall: 6'3 185 Most know who Jalen is because he is another Hawkins High School product. Hall is a 5 star and #1 WR for the class of 2018. He's the big bodied WR Nebraska needs but Hall has offers from everyone. Considered a USC lean but let's see if Hawkins is nicer in 2018.

WR Brian Hightower: 6'3 200. Hightower was a Calabasas boy who transferred to IMG academy for his junior season. #8 WR and #44 overall. Little more physical than Hall in my opinion. Another guy with offers from everywhere. just like Hall he goes and gets the ball at its highest point. Can the Calabasas connection help in Florida? We really need it to!

WR Kamryn Babb: 6'1 175. 500 mile radius guy. St. Louis guy. We know Coach Riley want these kind of kids bad and Babb would help Nebraska a ton. #11 WR and #68 overall. Explosive athlete who could play on the outside or in the slot. Even played some Wildcat QB this year. Getting Babb would be a great start to the STL area. Ohio State lean possibly?

WR Amon-Ra St. Brown- 6'1 187. Another SoCal kid. Ranked as the #2 WR and #11 overall. Just received his 5th star in the last update. Has offers from most major programs. Great route runner. Breaks tackles and can take it to the house on any occasion. Says that location doesn't matter but early playing time is a must. Has brothers and Notre Dame and Stanford so its safe to say he is a smart individual as well. Plays at Mater Dei against stiff competition and makes it look pretty easy.

TE Cameron Jurgens- 6'3 235. Nebraska boy. Nebraska commit. Big solid athlete. Some have Cameron as a TE and some have him as athlete. Ranked #5 as an athlete and #75 overall. Athletes like this don't come around Nebraska that often but Cameron made his commitment very early. Had an offer from UCLA as well. I actually like Cameron better at LB than I do at TE. I think he looks a little stiff at TE and it seems like NU is going for taller tight ends than Cameron. Like his film at LB and think he could really do damage after a RS year in Diaco's new 3-4 scheme.

OT Antwan Reed: 6'7 295. Former teammate of Husker Signee Andrew Ward. Another kid who has transferred to IMG Academy. A true mauler. Love his tape on run plays. Very physical. Reminds me of the tackles at Alabama, just huge guys that physically wear you down. Has offers from Michigan, Florida and others. Will be tough.

OC Will Farniok: 6'3 250. A Sioux Falls, SD product and brother of Husker football player Matt Farniok. Physical kid who pulls a ton for a center. Goes to the whistle every play and his technique is great. I believe if he was already 285 he would be a high rated guard/center. Iowa and Iowa State are his other offers. He will receive a lot more if he doesn't commit to NU soon. Thinks he is NU's to lose and could see him signing in the spring.

DT Trevor Trout: 6'3 295. This is one of those STL kids that I'm sure is on the top of Nebraska's board. #2 DT and #32 overall Trout is a monster who could contribute on the DL right away. Quick first step and so powerful. I think he could see time at both NT and DE. Has visited Nebraska once and I would bet we see him again at Friday night lights. If Riley wants to take over STL in 2018 and 2019 this is where you start.

DT Michael Thompson: 6'5 285. Another big STL guy. Big athletic freak. Could also project as an OT but for now is ranked #5 DT and #92 nationally. I think he would be a DE in our new 3-4 and would most likely see playing time as well, Has offers from a ton of major programs.

DT Calvin Avery: 6'4 302. Damion Daniels teammate. Made it up for Big Red Weekend or Friday night lights.. Don't think he participated in anything but Parella I'm sure and his been in constant contact. I think Avery is the true NT for the 2018 class when looking at Nebraska's offers. Quick first step. Gets up field in a hurry and can plug up the middle. Good hands and can move for big he is. Love how physical he plays. One minute looking at his hudl and you can see why Nebraska liked Daniels and Avery. Ranked #9 DT and #125 overall. I see him making moves up in the rankings. OU, Texas, Texas A&M are a few of his offers.

DT Masry Mapieu: 6'5 290 Nebraska boy. Nebraska commit. Masry is another big athletic guy that will probably play NT. Ranked as the #34 DT it will be interesting to see what Nebraska does as they will only take 3-4 DL for this class. Huskeronline talked about Masry possibly moving to OL if Nebraska gets some of the guys ranked higher. I really like his film and think his ceiling could be just as high as the other prospects., Will be interesting if Diaco sees him as a fit for the 3-4

LB Reggie Hughes: 6'2 215. Calabasas kid who really blew up during his junior season. Only a 3 star and #22 at his position but I really like how athletic he is. Great at getting to the QB and plays with a mean streak. Has offers from NU, UCLA, and Boston College but that offer list is bound to grow.

LB Adrian Jackson: 6'3 205. 500 mile radius guy at Valor Christian in Denver Colorado. Listed as the #15 safety and #171 recruit in the nation I see him more likely be a college LB than a S. I really like his film. Physical athlete that did a little bit of everything for his team. Great tackler but also very good in coverage from the LB spot. Penn State, Ohio State, and Notre Dame are a few of his offers. Would like to see him visit for the spring but he hasn't said much about any team lately.

CB Brendan Radley-Hiles: 5'10 180. "Bookie" as everyone knows is a Calabasas kid who has since transferred to IMG Academy. Tyjon Lindsey's cousin who he seems to have a very tight relationship with. #6 CB and #40 overall it wont surprise anyone if he is a 5 star by the end of the yaer. One of the most physical CBs I have ever seen at the HS level. He considers himself a "Savage" and well I have to agree. Has been to Nebraska multiple times and loves Coach Riley and Donte Williams. Also is pretty explosive on offense this year at Calabasas but who wasn't with Gebbia throwing 60 times a game.. I think Nebraska will be in his final 3 the whole time. Expect him to visit this spring and commit to someone in July,. I feel he is our KJJ this year and commits and becomes the recruiter Nebraska needs. Him being at IMG could be very beneficial if he does commit. My favorite guy on the defensive side of the ball.

CB Isaac Taylor-Stuart: 6'2 187. Another SoCal guy that Donte' will be after.#7 CB and #56 nationally. Super athletic corner who is named "Purple Flash". I could see him as the Boundary corner (if he we still have that) or maybe ever FS. Great tackler and really does well finding the ball in the air. Gives Nebraska a lot of love on twitter and listed UCLA, Alabama, Nebraska, and Washington as schools he is very interested in right now. I would expect a spring visit from him.

S Aashari Crosswell: 5'10 185. Another SoCal guy at Hawkins High. This will be the year to see if it is worth our time recruiting this high school or if they all attend USC. Rated as the #6 Safety and #72 overall. This dude can fly. Made a ton of plays for Hawkins this year with the ball in his hands whether it was returning kicks or interceptions he was looking to take it to the house. Has offers from every pac-12 school as well as Michigan and Florida. Would be a great get but a VERY VERY tough pull.

S Jaiden Woodbey: 6'2 205: Another Cali guy from the powerhouse St. John Bosco. Ranked as the #3 ATH and #45 overall. Think this is the SS that Nebraska would love to get in this class. Good body frame and can come down and stop the run as well cover WR's. Had a good showing at the Rivals 5 Star Challenge and actually made some DB's look bad when he was at WR. Must have a good relationship with Donte' as we made his top 4 that also included USC, Ohio State, and Oklahoma. Just took an unofficial to Ohio State and loved it. Right now I think its between OSU and USC but if he doesn't commit soon I think Nebraska will have a chance at him.

ATH Eric Fuller Jr. : 5'9 160. SoCal kid. Hawkins kid. Nebraska commit.#11 ATH and #166 overall. I think both Dante' and Keith Williams played a part if Eric's commitment. Fuller Jr is one the fastest kids in California. Projected at both CB and slot WR he can really do it all. He's a dynamic athlete that makes people miss and then runs away from them afterwards. I know one Nebraska analyst said he's a more athletic Tyjon but doesn't have the body yet that Tyjon has. . Had success on defense as well and going against Lewis and Hall can really only make you better. Really hope to see this guy start recruiting for Nebraska just to make me feel better about his commitment.

ATH Mario Goodrich: 6'2 180. 500 mile radius guy from Lee's Summit West in Missouri. #15 ATH and #188 overall., LOVE this guys film. I really can't believe he isn't rated higher. The only problem I have with this kid is I don't know where I would play him, He looks great at CB but also at WR. Probably could play FS. Great instincts, solid tackler and great at making plays with the ball in the air. He baits the QB to throw his way and jumps it. Has an offer from Mizzou, Kansas State, and Iowa. Think he is a Nebraska lean and this time. Hopefully visits over the spring and if all goes well he is N before summer.

I'd be happy if we could get even 2 or 3 of those guys.

Any idea how Will compares to older brother? I don't see him as being rated yet. It'd be nice to snag a running back with inside connections too as with Roberts. Definitely not room for two though and I'm sure he's not at the top of our board. Could be a case of swinging for the fences and missing on a kid we have a good shot with.

I've mentioned this before but if we plan on getting any of those top WR we need someone to have a breakout year this year as a selling point. I'm talking 100+ catches for over 1000 yards. I think we have at least two candidates. Recruits want to go to a school where they know they are going to get the ball

This would have been a great point to make last year but we just snagged three four star guys two days ago, including a consensus top 100 player. Two other AAs had us second but location kept them home.

Will is supposedly the better of the two.

Thanks for info. Good stuff.

Biggest need to pull in the BIG fish is winning which creates recruiting momentum. See USC as an example.

Unfortunately, I see next year as I did this year so I see us losing out on some key recruits.

Hope we get them next year because 2018 is so brutal I will just be hoping for a winning season.

I like our receivers I'm was more referring to the top 5* guys. The Donovan peoples-Jones type. If we get one of our guys to have a breakout year then that's a selling point because we don't have any 5*. KW can just attribute it to good coaching. Kinda like how OSU coach brags about putting guys in the league....easy to do when they have 5* after their name

I wouldn't say winning created USCs recruiting momentum. Let's face it they close well in socal every year

Matt was a lot bigger than Will going into his SR year but I've heard from a lot of people that Will is the best athlete in the family. Technique wise they both are great. Will did a lot for that offensive line as a center. Most centers in high aren't pulling. Will does a great job at it. Washington is absolutely loaded for this upcoming season. I do t think a team stays within 24. They won state with almost all sophomores and juniors. Their RB was a sophomore and POY in SD. If Will can get his weight up I think he will be a great center prospect.
