Regardless, it's a bad precedent. It's porn now, but what's next? "Fake" news websites? Maybe Oklahoma makes you pay extra to access cnn.com or nytimes.com, and Connecticut does the same for conservative sites.

Rhode Island is essentially trying to tax porn.

 

I think Pai & the FCC were originally in favor of blocking state-level changes to reinstate Net Neutrality at the state level, arguing states don't have that authority. Not sure how they'd feel about this law by RI.

All 49 Democrats voted for it, plus Republican Sens. Susan Collins of Maine, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and John Kennedy of Louisiana.

According to this, all of the Dems & the two independents (King & Sanders) voted yay, along with only 3 Republicans - Lisa Murkowski, Susan Collins & John Kennedy.

 

Kennedy was pretty surprising, considering he wrote a bill to try to tank healthcare. Maine really came through (King & Collins) along with Murkowski.
