GBRFAN
Does Nebraska really want to compete against schools like Ohio State, Michigan, Clemson...etc. by moving their FNL to July? Does Nebraska really want to compete against schools like Ohio State, Michigan, Clemson...etc.? Ok but chances are you won't get guys like Parsons to come to your FNL event. This is a terrible opinion. Should they just lay down instead while everyone else is enjoying success? Even if they only got 1 or 2 guys from bigger schools it puts them in a better standing. I'm not sure that it is a terrible opinion - The whole goal is to get guys on campus. We seem to swing some guys that aren't that interested once they get here (lamar Jackson). The point being made is if we are competing with the top 5 teams in the country for the same weekend then we will not get those guys on campus. If we do it a weekend that is not as crowded then we will get our fair share of guys on campus. Now the downside is that we are going after a weekend that isn't as ideal - until we start beating those teams on the field we may need to try to slide around them when it comes to picking dates.....its a numbers game and right now this is our best chance. jaws
Getting 2018, 2019, and 2020 kids on your campus for FNL was a bigger deal than getting someone to verbal at the camp. The goal is to get them to sign (not just verbal) and getting them to campus is the first step in doing that. Quote Link to comment
MinnwiscowaSker
Looking at a very small set of data (last year), we didn't get a bunch of verbals right after, so maybe timing of FNL doesn't matter as much? Here's our June-Christmas commitments from last year: Deiontae Watts DT Plano, TX 6'3" 290 5.6 9/18/16 Guy Thomas DE Miami, FL 6'3" 205 5.8 8/8/16 Ben Miles RB Baton Rouge, LA 6'1" 215 5.5 7/31/16 Broc Bando OL Bradenton, FL 6'4" 279 5.5 6/17/16 Since June this year, we got Joshua Moore on 6/18.Not sure if a move back to July would be beneficial or not. Just thought it was interesting how many of our commitments came in from June-Dec. Hopefully more this year with the early signing date. 1 Quote Link to comment
