The scary thing about it is not the threat of anything from NK but rather the sensationalistic "urgent "alert" nature of the Fox News reporting on it. I went over to the local truck stop (they have Fox News on 24-7) to pick up some late breakfast and the typical persons that frequent there are, how shall we say, not the sharpest knives in the drawer. I'm sure 25%+ of them (and that's being conservative) in all likelihood believe war is imminent and that we would be completely justified in wiping NK off the map right now. I know this has been covered as nauseam in multiple threads but Fox News really is out of control. The only real "breaking" news (if it's not completely fake news) is that NK may be a little further down the road with their nuclear missile abilities than we thought they were. But Fox is doing all they can to get anyone and everyone whipped into a frenzy, I'm sure all at the behest of Trump Inc. It just isn't supposed to be this way...

The bold: The problem with the 'wiping NK off the map right now" is this - We said this about North Vietnam, we said this about Iraq and Afghanistan, about ISIS etc. NV became communist Vietnam and we all know there are still major issues wt these Middle East entities - so the problem is that NK and these others don't lay down and just go along wt our plan to 'wipe them off the map'. They believe their ideology and stick up and defend it like we do ours. The same is true with Iran. Both Iran and NK would be major war blunders if we decided to take them on by force. Yes we have the military superior position but they have the 'defense of homeland' attitude that prolongs any effort by anyone trying to wipe them off the map. Long enough until they win the war of 'wills'. I shudder to think what would happen to Seoul SK if we start a war. It would have to be a first strike that gives NK no ability to retaliate.

So, is Trump rattling the sabers as a diversion to Russia Gate - does a skunk smell. Yes and YES. Unfortunately, history has shown that weak presidents are the most dangerous presidents, they are presidents who don't have the strength of character to overcome but use diversions like this to escape.

Relate to above is this article from the Washington Post - according to the article, once again our intelligence has under estimated the status of NK's nuke ability. I haven't seen the Fox News story so not sure if it is of similar nature or not.

UN Ambassador Nikki Haley on Tuesday slammed an apparent leak of classified details about US intelligence seeing North Korea load up anti-ship missiles onto a patrol boat.

"I can't talk about anything that's classified and if it's in the newspaper that's a shame," Haley said in an appearance on "Fox and Friends." "It's incredibly dangerous when things go out to the press like that."

"You're not just getting a scoop, you're playing with people's lives," said Haley.

But it looks like President Donald Trump had another reaction to the anonymous leak.

On Tuesday morning, the president retweeted the story before tweeting: "After many years of failure, countries are coming together to finally address the dangers posed by North Korea. We must be tough & decisive!"

The story, a scoop from Fox's Pentagon reporter Lucas Tomlinson, cited anonymous US defense officials as saying “North Korea is not showing any evidence it plans to halt its missile tests,” and describing "a trend that does not bode well for hopes of de-escalating tensions on the [Korean] peninsula.”

Tomlinson regularly publishes scoops from the Pentagon, often about breaking news or incidents at sea.

The Bold: :facepalm::facepalm: We have the Child leading the administration while the adults try to keep order.

Let's just stop and soak this in.

He just drew a line in the sand where NK only has to threaten something.

Think about that for a minute.

Fat Boy threatens something as often as Trump tweets something. These idiots will trip on the same tree stump and hit heads and get us into a war. Where are the adults!!

What Trump is choosing to do matters. We should stop electing madmen and comfort ourselves with soothing notions that they're just "not afraid to tell it like it is" and "how refreshing". No. He's an irresponsible, unhinged lunatic -- and he's not capable of beginning to grasp the sort of fire he's playing with.

Seems odd that NK would tell everyone what they are doing...Hmmmm

Well, fat boy's saber rattling used to be kind of cute, in a funny he's an idiot sort of way. But now that we have another idiot (who's in charge of the worlds most powerful war machine) rattling back in the same fashion, it's quite discomforting. Does anyone think either one of these jokers are rational enough to know when/where to stop? Does anyone think either one of them wants to stop?
