"After junior forward Nick Fuller announced he was leaving on Sunday night, freshman guard Jeriah Horne has asked for his scholarship release and will look for a new school next season, per Rivals.com national basketball recruiting analyst Eric Bossi.

Horne played in 29 games this season but averaged just 4.3 points and 1.9 rebounds while playing only 11.8 minutes per game.

A former three-star Rivals150 recruit out of Overland Park, Kan., Horne’s playing time was certainly off and on all year long.

He had some major bright spots and scored in double figures five times in 2016-17, including leading NU with 18 points in 18 minutes of action in a win over Southern.

Maybe his best game as a Husker came in the upset over No. 20 Purdue, when he dropped 17 points on 7-of-12 shooting and hauled in a season-high seven rebounds in 24 minutes."

Not shocking. The "One game I play 20 minutes and next game i spend the whole game on the bench" is tough for any kid.

Miles cant keep being so inconsistent with minutes.

especially with guys who can do the thing we lack the most on this team- SHOOT THE BASKETBALL

Also doesn't help that we don't run an offense. Our lack of ball movement and lack of floor spacing is hilarious most of the time

That was just perfect... nothing to add.

So Miles should just play guys that make constant errors defensively?

Dudes, we have such an outside perspective on this. All we see is the games. What do we know about Horne's attitude and effort outside of games? We already know that he lacks effort on the defensive end of the court...

I hope he stays, but it is what it is. Kids will be kids always.

Sure hate to see guys like Horne transferring. I mean, the guy only spent one year at NU. And he got some decent play time considering he was a first year freshman. He's got the shooting ability to become a great player. I'm sure he would have become a better defensive player and rebounder with a bit more experience under his belt. I think if he would have stuck it out he could have been part of something really big at NU. Too bad he's bailing out. Oh well. I hope he finds what he's looking for at his next stop. :dunno:

The thing is, we had several quality wins this year. Just look at the teams in the bracket that we beat. But we also suffered several head scratching, embarrassing losses. That, and we ended the year on a down note. All in all, I think Nebrasketball is more poised for success than we were four or five years ago. But having guys like this transfer out sets us back some. /jmho
