They said something like it was under construction or something, but it was really an excuse just to not host a NIT game and prolong the tenure of Coach Crean. Quote Link to comment

I thought it was because there students were on spring break and they didnt think they could fill it... New rules allow for the lower seeded team to host if the higher seed agrees.
