StPaulHusker
I think she will be the surrogate First Lady because the current one probably doesn't understand what to do. Link to comment
knapplc
Why does she need a security clearance? To my knowledge no other First Lady has had one. Link to comment

knapplc
The First Lady is whomever the administration says she is. It doesn't have to be the president's wife. Meanwhile, in France... Link to comment

The spouse of an elected official isn't required to have security clearance. That doesn't apply to children. Link to comment
knapplc
Not sure why that posted twice. I don't know what Ivankas role is going to be. She isn't qualified to have a security clearance as far as I know. Link to comment

Ivanka would not be a government employee. So although perhaps similar, not the same as France. Link to comment

StPaulHusker
^^^If not an employee, why would she need clearance? Just because you're not getting paid doesn't mean that you can't help with policy based on possibly sensitive information? I don't know. Just guessing. Link to comment
funhusker
I just can't imagine what she could help with that would require her to see classified information. But, I don't have clearance. So the things I don't know..... Link to comment

Making Chimichangas
Leaving aside the questions of security clearances, duties, etc... Nepotism should be avoided. For what ever positions Trump needs to hire or appointment people for, I guarantee you there are at least 1,000 candidates more qualified than his kids. Link to comment

Based on people he has hired for actual paying jobs, I would say he doesn't have a clue who those 1,000 people are and neither does anyone else. Link to comment
