Husker Hoops Looks Like Sinking Ship

Recommended Posts

Every coach loses players. Only coaches in peril lose multiple potential starters.

Tim Miles no longer has a crisis of confidence. He’s looking more like the captain of a sinking ship. He has nine scholarship players and he’s apparently having a hard time finding juco transfers of his own — over the weekend, he reportedly lost one target to Illinois State.

I’m picturing Miles and his staff sitting around the office: “We got no food … we got no jobs … our pets’ heads are falling off!”

Actually, they do have jobs, but you have to wonder whether Shawn Eichorst is regretting his decision to bring Miles back.

At the time, I was surprised because, despite optimism within the fan base, the vibes were bad. You could see it in Miles’ third consecutive February collapse. You could see it in the body language of his players, especially Tai Webster and Glynn Watson.

He’d lost his team emotionally. Now he’s losing them physically, too. The Huskers are down to two scholarship big men on the roster: Jordy Tschimanga and Isaac Copeland. Next thing you know walk-on Tanner Borchardt will announce he’s transferring to Peru State.

If Watson is truly staying, now they need to just figure out what pieces fit the puzzle. Find a kid who wants to play decent minutes in the B1G. Evan Taylor wasnt great last year but was a decent late find... IDeally we would find a 3pt sharp shooter but who knows.

I love saying things like this, so I will.

Evan Taylor would be GREAT if we could just use him off the bench to help defensively for 8-10 minutes a game.
