Exactly. Plus I'm wondering if this kid isn't going to commit soon. I need all the points I can get.

I just like to have some semblance of a choice for where he might choose and didn't have any idea which other schools are after him.

But Vanderbilt offered him right after we did and it sounds like Texas is interested as well so I added the poll.

Really loving recruiting this year. Seems like we're targeting a guy, getting him, and moving on to the next one. Really hope the fan base stays sane enough to let them coach who they brought in.

Do we have a kicker on the roster for next year aside from this commit? If not, it's VERY timely, indeed.

Good get.  A kicker that can consistenly make from under 45 is a luxury in college football (and well worth a scholly).

Anyone know Alabama's kicker situation? This guy would seem like a no brainer for them as they always seem to stuggle in the kicker department.

What a pick up, a five star kicker according to the kicking services. We have no kickers after Drew graduates, so it makes sense that we sold him on early PT.

Did the wrath of fo fiddy help us land this one?

Will this kid even be listed on the 247 team rankings? Going to have to take that final ranking with even more of a grain of salt if not/if his score isn't representative of his kicking ability.

Big pick up that'll go mostly unnoticed!

Nice catch, I am all for using a scholarship on a kicker.   Kickers are a times only appreciated when you don't have one and you team loses by 2 points.

Think they'll let him push Lightbourn as punter as well? Seems like he was a pretty well thought of punter too. Probably makes more sense to specialize in one, but can't hurt to give Caleb a little push.

I would like to see this guy punt too. If Lightborne wins the job that's great but might as well let him compete for the punting job with Drew Brown on campus for one more year. Could be the next Alex Henery and just dominate in all phases of special teams.

Not sure what the hell 5 stars is supposed to mean for a kicker, but #2 kicker in the country is a pretty good ranking.

I'm not sure why the services don't just fricken rate kickers.  They are almost as important as every position on the field.. unless you are the Oregon Ducks ;)

Yes, I'm being serious.

What about when you figure in distances, blocks, get off times, height of kick, and conditions? What about a good kicker that doesn't have to kick many FGS bc they have great offenses. Bad hold, etc, etc

So how about the services watch their highlight film and make those decisions? Good grief. We are talking about watching 20fg attempts and 15 kickoffs maybe?

Resources man? Then you would have to rate kickers, long snappers, punters, and kick off specialists. Then why not start ranking kick and punt returners too. Lot of time evaluating 1000's of kids around the country to find a couple of kids that could be rated. They focus on the impact positions. They miss enough on those already

Bc kickers don't sell subscriptions and are hard to rate.
Made 20/25 fgs. 1 from 49. He's a 4 star. Boom.

So what does 19/27 get you?
3 star, unless all misses were 40+
What about when you figure in distances, blocks, get off times, height of kick, and conditions? What about a good kicker that doesn't have to kick many FGS bc they have great offenses. Bad hold, etc, etc
So how about the services watch their highlight film and make those decisions? Good grief. We are talking about watching 20fg attempts and 15 kickoffs maybe?
Resources man? Then you would have to rate kickers, long snappers, punters, and kick off specialists. Then why not start ranking kick and punt returners too. Lot of time evaluating 1000's of kids around the country to find a couple of kids that could be rated. They focus on the impact positions. They miss enough on those already

Or just use Kohls rankings
