Jordan Westerkamp NFL Journey

I think Westy has a chance to stick in the league. Needs things to go his way (stay healthy) but I think there is a place for a guy that can catch everything.

Patriots have signed Austin Carr, NW WR and I think also a slot guy. Already a pretty crowded situation at receiver. Thinking it may not be the best chance for a roster spot for him. But I'd love to see it happen. I think Westy will find a way to stick.

Totally agree. Westy has good hands no matter who he plays for.

Looks like it's the Eagles!

Haha, take that zoogs!

Yesterday made me a happy guy. Both Gerry and Westy landing on the Eagles is pretty exciting. I"m pretty much the only Eagles fan I know.

I still remember how elated I was when they took Henery years ago. He was a fire that burned very brightly but quickly in Philly... let's hope these two last longer!

Edit: I think Westy was just retweeting that in support of Gerry. That is him in the tweet, isn't it? If so, bummer. Hope it happens... the Eagles need some receivers.

I'd be ok with him catching on down here.

Kenny and Westy back together? Me gusta

Bell was released last year. Think he was picked up by Baltimore

Hard to imagine, a guy who catches everything, has no on or off field issues has to go this route.....

Best of luck. I can imagine he will shine brighter with a QB who can get him the ball.

Wow, that was way too hard for me to figure out where he was going.

Come on Westy, you can do it!

On these reports what's the difference between Westerkamp trying out for the Bucs vs when Reilly was signed by the Bills? or is it the same?

https://www.nj.com/giants/index.ssf/2017/04/whats_the_difference_between_an_undrafted_free_age.html

The main difference is if you're an undrafted free agent, you sign your contract immediately," the agent said. "If you're getting invited for a tryout, you're not signing a contract. You're basically going out there with a two- or thee-day tryout and then they decide out of this pool of 15 or 20 guys they brought in, 'OK, we're going to sign this one or that one.' Then at that point, (tryout players) sign their contract as an undrafted free agent."

Interesting...

These guys who got tryouts, they are going to have to work hard to impress, I hope they make it.

Damn I hope he is healthy enough to show them what he's got.

If not, I could see him taking the long way... Canadian for a year and tearing the hell out of that league then getting a shot.

Way to go Westy! Best wishes with Tampa Bay! Stay healthy!

Will miss the 'Westerstache'. Can you imagine how great the Huskers would be this year if Westy and Ameer were playing? It would be amazing. However, I'm really excited for this season.

I think Westerkamp has a legit chance at being an NFL caliber type of player. The NFL be crazy though. He just needs the right team. I hope Tampa Bay is that team.

Catches like that definitely won't hurt him.

Unless he drops 5 passes that hit him in the hands. (I hope not, but it is a possiblity - we don't know)

Just saying one good catch a position doesn't make.

"Undrafted free agent wide receiver from Nebraska, Jordan Westerkamp, was in the top three or four wide receivers from the day. He looked explosive off the snap and as a potential slot receiver, that’s what you need." -Pewterreport.com

When did he ever drop more than one pass that hit him in the hands?

Doesn't look like he can much separation from the corner tbh. The corner was on his hip the entire route

Well the good thing is if he ends up in the slot chances of a corner guarding him are slim

An honest question. Are we as fans, myself included, high on Westy because of his success at NU even though the success is rather pedestrian compared to other FBS leading receivers. I think Westy has great hands, phenomenal route running and a desire to compete. Is he marginalized because of "measurables", lack of production, or stats. I can't help but think he and other recent NU receivers/TE's have been hurt by quality QB play more so than their lack of "ability". Thoughts....

I don't have a lot of confidence in the way the NFL signs some players and passes on others but that's just me. Westy could easily get great interest and sign with one team while another team could totally pass on him or any other player like him for that matter. He has the talent especially to do well in a slot role but personally I just think it all depends on being with the right team at the right time.

Wish he would try out for the bears.. they have 0 reliable receivers. Pretty sure he could play

Bears fans would love him. He's a local.
