Ameer Abdullah brings lightning to the Lions' backfield
By Justin Simon  @justincsimon on May 6, 2015, 12:39p
When the Detroit Lions used their second-round pick on running back Ameer Abdullah, it couldn't have been a better fit of value and need. After releasing Reggie Bush earlier in the offseason, the Lions desperately needed a running back who could add some explosion to their offense.
<snip>
According to Pro Football Focus, he forced a missed tackle on average once out of every 4.3 offensive touches, and forced 66 missed tackles on rushes and receptions, which ranks third-most in the 2015 draft class.

I'm surprised he's third. I mean, who is better than Ameer at making guys miss tackles?

Does it count as a missed tackle if a tackle wasnt attempted?

^^ Yeah, that. Unfortunately. :hmmph (bad memories)

And Melvin Gordon seems to have a much different style of running. He is quite a bit faster than Ameer at the top end. But I'd say Ameer might actually have a faster first step. And Ameer is much shiftier than Gordon in tight spaces.

Ex-Nebraska RB heavily praises Lions' Abdullah

By Steve Schrader, Detroit Free Press 2:20 p.m. EDT May 30, 2015

<snip>

"(His style is) going to translate very well, especially with the wide-open, spread offenses being a style now other than the straight drop back," Green said. "Now you have the spread that's similar to what he ran at Nebraska. "I know for sure that Detroit runs a variation of that with Calvin Johnson, Matt Stafford and Joique Bell, the running back they already had there. So he'll be another weapon for the coach to integrate into that offense.

Better write this down. There won't be many times Ahman Green has something nice to say about the Lions. :lol:
