Fall Camp News & Notes

Sam McKewon's take on POB from Aug. 4th. Pay particular attention to the bolded.

Quarterbacks: Lee has been excellent. Patrick O’Brien has to keep his footwork and mechanics tight; I saw a few tosses off his back foot, which made the ball sail. My read: O’Brien is perhaps a hair off his precision from late in the spring. Tristan Gebbia has savvy and, because he’s pretty slight, some athleticism outside the pocket that’s interesting. Gebbia puts his whole body into throwing deep out and corner routes. Andrew Bunch, an emergency quarterback, looks more than capable of throwing a pass in case someone loses his helmet.

Is there any reason why this year's offensive line shouldn't be better than last years?

I'd also suggest that a more accurate passer willing to attempt shorter check down and outlet passes -- and less prone to improvised scrambles -- makes the OLs job easier.

No, they'll be better but that's a low bar. Talent and depth are better this year.

My personal opinion, based on what I've seen so far, is that Cav can teach pass pro pretty well. Run blocking is still a question mark for me. Hopefully the passing game being more efficient will help the run game.
