Any chance the Tanner Lee story isn't 100 percent true?

Arkansas State's defense was atrocious.  Lots of missed tackles, horrible angles.  All of that and we still almost lost to them.

Lest we not forget this was an FCS opponent who we beat by 7 points.

Not a good litmus test for an offense.

Lee did o.k.  He had some good deep balls but also had a few that could have easily been intercepted.

His true tests await.

Lest we not... wait, wait, wait - is everyone upset because they mistakenly think Arky St is a 1AA team? Because they aren't, and they won their conference last year. This was a mid-major giving a P5 team a scare - it happens all the time.

ASU led the nation in tackles for loss and sacks last year. Are we sure they weren't a good test for our offense? Or at least the passing game?

We kept in a lot of blockers and ran very simple progressions all night. We weren't going to allow them to be much of a test for us.

Isn't that what you should do as an offense if it works?

I'm not saying ASU has a good D, but the jury is still out so we can't assume they're bad either.

Lee is really good.  It was nice seeing an actual QB out there.  If he had an OL that was better at pass blocking his completion percentage would be close to 70%.

Had some of those drops that hit them in the chest or hands been catches we would have seen closer to 80%.  A lot of drops that could have easily been caught.  I saw 5 or 6 that were either over thrown or thrown in coverage that made it tough to catch.
