Simple: Will Riley be back for a 4th year?

I think with SE speaking after the game it is pretty clear.  Riley is gone after this season unless he wins all the rest of the games with the exception of OSU and PSU.

I hope that was SE's way of letting him know he's gone regardless and a message to potential coaches we are looking...

I sort of think so...I really think SE is trying to get out in front of this to save his job first.  He needs Riley to "retire" so he can save his own ass.

I could see Eichorst being relieved of his duties while Riley has a year to "turn things around" (read: while the new AD comes up with a long-term plan to resurrect Nebraska football) but with changes being forced on Riley on the offensive side of things (namely Cavanaugh). 

 

The only way I see Riley not being here next year is if we miss a bowl game completely. But Eichorst has enough failure all around the athletic department to justify us looking for a replacement.

Going to have to agree with you here.  His hind quarters are on the line after this loss.

Depends on what he does going forward. If he finishes with 8 wins I think he gets another year. If he comes back he'll need to make some staff changes. Davis, and Cav need to be gone. Maybe Langs too if the offense doesn't progress going foward.

 

If I had to vote (which I can't because there's no damn poll) I'd say no, as of right now.

I think he retains his job at 7-5 or better. 6-6 up in the air but not looking too good. 5-7 or worse fired.

 

Just to get to 7-5 at this point seems like a longshot though from what we've seen through 3 games.

Bring in Rimington, or Alberts. Bring in Scott Frost. Give him a blank check for assistants, and let's get this damn thing turned around.

How many years left on that contract?  He's gotta be bought out for that to happen.  We're still paying Bo as well.
