Barfknecht Nails it to Eichorst

This is not about Riley being evaluated right now, it is about SE.

Firing Eichorst is very much about Riley, about starting 1-2, about looking lost & inept on the field three games into a coach's third year.

It is not, for example, about Cook losing to UNI at Baxter Arena last Saturday.  It is not about Miles failing to have even a decent season, again, last year, or about Yori, or about any other sport.

It is not coincidental that Eichorst was fired after Nebraska lost to NIU.  Firing Eichorst is laying the groundwork to replace Riley.  Riley has been evaluated and found to be lacking.

Sorry, I meant as in, this is not Riley's end of year eval...he has an end of the season...SE didn't.

But back to Eichhorst--somebody hired this guy.  Somebody was responsible for him and watching what he did.  And if he s#!t the bed for so long, why wasn't he dealt with earlier?  How could it get to this point?  If what Barfy wrote about the women's basketball coach was even remotely true, wouldn't that alone be enough of a sign that something horrible was happening?  If you've got a guy in a public position like AD, and he's running away from people, and pretty much acting like he's got Asperger's,  somebody would have had to notice this.  Why wasn't it dealt with back then?

Because people were too busy getting their panties in a bunch over the fact that Bo dropped a few F-bombs to listen carefully when he warned us about this a few years ago.

Why do I need to read this stuff?  This is all in the past and now he's gone.  Be reading a bunch of articles about how horrible the guy was doesn't change anything or make the future better.

Because those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it?

You don't because 95% of what he's saying can be found on message boards.

Lee is, to me, a great example of why newspapers are dying. They're convinced they are the only source for information and they expect you to kiss their ass to get it.  Lee, in particular, is a petulant child when it comes to being a member of the Husker community.

It's more like the Internet is an echo chamber. There's many sources, and what gets posted by one news source gets repeated a thousand times elsewhere. If one source went silent, you wouldn't notice it much. But if *all* of them went silent... we'd have a big problem.

Thank you Toe.  Was basically gonna write the same exact thing you just did.

And the Yori stuff is worse than written.  Eichorst leaked info and threw her under the bus.  It's sickening what he did to her and what he has done to many others.

If you are afraid to read info from professional journalists who have credentials, but would rather listen to everyone on boards, then you have only yourself to blame when your beloved teams have zero success for 20 years.

And just look at Mizzou for na example of what bad press and horrific sports teams have done to their enrollment.  They are in complete shambles down there right now.  The cancers have to be eradicated and the good hires need to be in place.  Accountability, Respect, Culture and Respect are the Foundations of every successful enterprise.  And that is what Nebraska is still striving for.  SE is Gone.  the Dominos will fall properly now.

There's literally zero connection between that sentence and what has occurred on the field over the last 20 years.

The team's success is somehow effected by the media? Well, thanks for the laugh.

LOL.  The media is just reinforcing the narrative of SE needed to go.  If HRMR won 11 games last year, was in the playoffs and looked to repeat it this year all of this would be spun in a positive.

Doesn't meet with coaches, becomes doesn't micromanage the programs, he's a big picture guy and lets the coaches do their job.

Booster upset about him being standoffish, becomes SE not bowing to booster money.

Doesn't speak to the media, is hard ot get ahold of, becomes he's the man behind the curtain that doesn't want to draw away from the students on the field.

Was firing him the right choice?  I sure hope so, make no mistake the media is complicit in supporting the narrative UNL wants to generate.

The media most certainly has an effect on team's success. It obviously comes after things like talent, coaching, X & O's, etc. But, its on the list for sure.

Local media can set the narrative for a program, paint program and coahc in positive or negative light, etc. That, without a doubt, affects recruiting and fan support.

Would you claim that not reading professional journalists leads to the team having zero success for 20 years?

Ah yes.

The media made Nebraska get 62 hung on them by Colorado

The media made Nebraska go 7-7

The media made Steve Pederson botch the HC hiring in 04

The media made Nebraska have their first losing season in 40+ years

The media made Tom Osborne botch the HC hiring in 07

The media made Harvey Perlman botch the AD hire of 2011

The media made Shawn Eichorst botch the HC hire of 2014

THE MEDIA THE MEDIA THE MEDIA THE MEDIA

Nebraska's enrollment is up the last 3 years.  So if horrific sports teams play a role in enrollment how do you explain that?

Also what is the real story with Yori besides the mistreatment of players?
