BoNeyard
I wanted Frost and was certain we were going to get him and then I got a text from a family member showing me the headline that we had hired Mike Riley. I went numb with reaction and thought what a terrible terrible hire. Quote Link to comment
timmytbro
I heard Riley, googled him, I saw a guy who looked like Peter North. Just a menacing look, the kind of look that says " im going to long di** the Shi* out this program" I knew it was you Riley, you broke my heart, you broke my heart. Quote Link to comment
Redux
Can someone find and bump the thread we had when it was announced, there are some absolute gems in that thing. Quote Link to comment
Kernal
1. RageNose Pelini was fired two years too late. 2. Who the f#*k is Mike Riley? Quote Link to comment
ladyhawke
I really don't remember exactly what I said but I didn't know who he was. However, I think Echorst panicked and grabbed someone he knew that could calm the fan base right away and Rikey did that. It was refreshing to have that calm on the sidelines. I don't think he was brought in to win games. He was simply Husker fan damage control. Too sad. Quote Link to comment
teachercd
That is in interesting way to look at it, I don't think the hire calmed the fan base but I see what you mean. I think that is what SE thought would happen and I also think SE wanted an established coached that he could not have to "worry" about or even work with. Quote Link to comment
lo country
1)Google 2) WTF 3)Why 4) Today, please let the Riley error be over Quote Link to comment

We should know who that person is very well. If I have to Google someone to figure out who it is, it probably isn't going to end well. But he came with rave reviews from ESPN??? Quote Link to comment
GBRHouston
First thought: Who? Second thought: Holy f#*k he went 4-8 last year this will not end well. Quote Link to comment
MichiganDad3
1. Who is MR 2. After researching the guy - Oh no! We are doomed! 3. After hearing SE say the checkbook is open to get the best assistants, and waiting for the assistants to be hired - Oh no! We are doomed! 4. Hoping that MR wouldn't win 7 or 8 games every year - just enough to keep his job while also keeping NU football irrelevant Quote Link to comment
Danimal
I was hot, folks in the car next to me probably though I was a crazy person. This wasn't the hire you can a 9-3 coach to make. 1 Quote Link to comment
funhusker
I have a FB post somewhere to prove it, but essentially: "Eichorst and Nebraska can't afford to screw this up (after firing Pelini). Eichorst better cross his fingers that Riley gets better" Quote Link to comment
LumberJackSker
I was mad. I live in a pac 12 state so his games at oregon state were always on tv here. The dude had been trending down for years and used an upset over usc to cover up a lot of blowouts and a losing conference record. I couldn't believe this was the hire after SE said they were going to open up the checkbook. At least the guy will be gone soon. Quote Link to comment
CheeseHusker
My current signature is exactly what I posted that day. If you have signatures turned off, this is what it says: "My reactions today, in order: Denial, shock, underwhelmed, skeptical. I still feel all of these things. I cannot say he would have been my first choice, or second, or third, or, well, any choice.... completely off my radar" Edited October 16, 2017 by CheeseHusker Quote Link to comment
