Realistic Coaching Hires with the AD

People act like our new AD wouldn't know who Scott Frost is. Umm,,,,hello people, Frost was calling plays at Oregon when our new AD was at Washington State. He has seen up close multiple times what Scott Frost is about.

Coach Frost has told some people he is willing to come back according to Sean Callahan. 

 

DB isn't close to Scott Frost. He is just speculating. You can tell DB respects him at least. That is why he talks about him.

And his wife is from Arizona. She will be closer to home with their kid at Nebraska than at Orlando. She can even build a home down there if she wants to live down there or have it be a vacation location.

Not putting this out there because he'd be my first choice, but just a coach that I haven't seen listed. 

Dave Doeren from NC State. Grew up in Kansas. Is a moneyball type coach. Has the Wolfpack currently sitting at 6-1. When he was the head coach at Northern Illinois he took them to the Orange Bowl, and went 12-1 that year. Again, wouldn't be my first choice (Frost or Whittingham), but I think he'd be an intriguing candidate.

Now that he is married with a family I actually think there is more of a chance he comes back.  Plus...he is signing a winning lotto ticket.  What will it be?  6 years for 19 million?  I mean...he is set for life.

 

I think that's a little low.  Brohm at Purdue is making $3.3mm/yr plus bonuses and Brohm has a reasonably close resume to Frost.  I echo the sentiments of alot of board members when I saw that Nebraska can't 'go cheap' with the next football coach hire.  I think if you want to make Frost 'feel the love' you come as close to the comp package that Texas gave Tom Herman which is $5.25mm/yr plus a $250k raise per year with bonuses on top.  Frost's UCF team this year is projecting to mirror Herman's first year Houston team which went 11-1 and played in a New Years 6 bowl.  I think we would agree that Herman has a pretty similar resume to Frost (minus the Texas job of course) and while Nebraska certainly isn't as flashy as Texas, Nebraska certainly has a serious war chest they can pull out if need be.  Look, I get that Nebraskans are conservative by nature and that amount of money is going to turn some heads.  We'll certainly hear the, "TO never made xyz and look how great of a coach he was!"

This is probably one of the most reasonable choices no one has mentioned.

Chip would be interesting but Frosty was born on Nebraska soil. Dude has drive and has a great Football mind.  I would love to see him trolling the sidelines rockin the headset in Lincoln.
