Personally I would be really nervous to go back to my alma mater because it’s definitely a big risk. You are already a hero there, so my attitude is why potentially mess that up. But to be totally honest, I’m just not a risk taker in general and usually like to take the easy route. People like Scott Frost who are really competitive often welcome those kinds of opportunities and look at it as more of a challenge than a risk.

Very fair assessment. It's always great to visit with fans of another team that want to participate in civil conversations. It also pains me to see Husker fans on other message boards talking trash.

All the best in your coaching search (as long as it isn't Scott Frost :D).

Thanks. I honestly hope you guys do land Frost, even though I’d love to have him at Tennessee. In my opinion, college football is just better when Nebraska is good.

Vols1891 you were not kidding, there are tons of names over there. Schiano, Taggert, Gruden, Frost, Mullen, Norvell, Campbell etc. we’ve mentioned some names but as you can tell by our threads and volume we are essentially focused on Scott.

Wow we have ATS Knight representing UCF and Vols1891 representing Tennessee, we just need a civil Florida fan and all the rumored teams will be represented! No offense to the other teams I still hope SF is N :)

Wasn’t that Myakkka feller pretty civil?

Did Tressel ever refer to Nebraska as his dream job? Did Tressel's parents ever live in Lincoln? Did Tressel win a National Championship as a player for Nebraska?

So, yeah, maybe not much comparison.

Yes, as he snorted a mountain of cocaine off of a hooke...sorry, escort’s posterior.

Yes, for three months as they were on the run from the Yakuza. But they were a memorable three months for an impressionable Tressel—January, February, and March, where the white blanketing the ground was only superceded by the white fleeing Omaha for the suburbs.

And yes, but not as a player. Tressel had an odd job of having to keep an eye on Peyton Manning’s differently-abled brother, Eli. Problem was, Eli was prone to mischief, like telling police officers about the special room without lights in the basement where Peyton kept cheerleaders. So Eli wanders from Tressel’s watchful eye, and some Home Alone shenanigans take place while Jim and Archie Manning have to go find Eli.

As a result, Archie wasn’t able to wear his super dad headset to call plays on behalf of the OC, and instead, a lovely suite maid by the name of Lupita picked up the headset and proceeded to tell everyone her daunting tale of illegal border crossings, young love in America, and a herniated disk in her lower back that was bulging. HC Phillip Fulmer was so captivated by this story, it inspired him then and there to begin work on Tennessee’s historic NC run in 1998 and allowed Scott Frost to run roughshod over the Volunteers that night.

:cheers

Hello fellow board members...new member here...  I have been what you call a lurker for quite some time now.. before the whole MR hire. Ive always been a fan of (most of the time) the information that everyone has to offer on this board. With the end of this season coming to a close I felt the need to finally become a member and add to this madness. No I don't have any "source" or "insider". Simply just a fan with the Huskers engraved into my soul.

With this being said... someone asked about the comparisons between Frost and Tressel.. I feel its completely different. There are TOO many key factors that favor Frost to NU (IMO) where as Tressel just seemed like a name in the dark, long shot hire with no real substance. A few flight trackers here and there but nothing like what this Frost ordeal has become.

If all said and done and Frost is N... this will be the most excited I have been for a new era in Husker football. The last few have been exhausting... GBR

Welcome rustyred!

The way Scott Frost dispelled the rumor makes me think that he is either staying at UCF or going Florida. It is much easier to recruit down there than it is in Nebraska. The chances of us getting Frost in Lincoln are less than 20%. I definitely do not want the Leach in Nebraska. I do not enjoy his style of football. Even though people are hating on Tressel, he has proven that he can win in the Big 10. He looks smart and probably can outsmart many of the coaches in this conference. Chip Kelly is someone that can bring the recruits but his style is too west coast. If Scott turns us down, I would hope we get one of the following in this order:

(1) Bob Stoops

(2) Jim Tressel

(3) Chip Kelly

(4) The mad hatter Les Miles

(5) Whoever is coaching Boise State...they always find a way to win

It is late and I can't sleep because my feet hurt (thanks Army boots).  So, in this state, I'm also slipping into pessimism.

It has occurred to me the "it is his dream job, he said so" is from an interview in 2012 if I remember correctly.  Before his new job and success at UCF.  Dreams DO change over time and with experience.

I'd feel a lot better if that quote was from summer of 2017 rather than 2012.

I don't think much has changed. If anything, he can taste his new position as HC at Nebraska rather than dream about it like he did in the summer of 2012. Nebraska is making a change soon after the game on Friday, which I believe will be announced. So enjoy tomorrow knowing you will have a lot to look forward to on Friday.

If Frost is 20% the rest of that list statistically doesn't even exist.
