During Sunday’s press conference announcing the hire of new A.D. Bill Moos, Green said former Nebraska track and field competitor Levi Gipson also was included. While Holman said the group never met with any candidates for the A.D. job, the panel met one Sunday to give Green some priorities the next athletic director should focus on.

“I told them that it was really important that we got an athletic director that cared about student-athletes as people first, and students, and as athletes because we’re students first and athletes second,” she said.

“I said it’s very important they have a relationship with the coaches because I think that’s very important because, you know, there are a lot of needs that coaches have. Emotional support and things like that, that maybe we don’t think about.”

Holman also said that while she thought Nebraska currently has top-notch athletic facilities, an athletic director should always be forward looking at what the next round of improvements could be.

There was a group of 20 people that they sought input from. They didn't discuss any specific candidates, just about what they felt was important in an AD candidate. The group included volleyball player Briana Holman, ex-Huskers Eric Crouch and Jordan Burroughs (wrestling), volleyball coach John Cook, softball coach Rhonda Revelle and former football coach and Athletic Director Tom Osborne.

This is the athletic department equivalent of "coachspeak". Which is fine! Optics are important. Just don't get steamed about coachspeak if you're going to be bowled over by this PR blast of "guys, we CONSULTED all these HUSKER LEGENDS".

Did you know that Bill Moos is a Midwestern guy? Knows how to talk to people in jeans?
