Transfers from UCF (UCF Sucks- Who Can We Steal)?

Recommended Posts

Goodness gracious zoogs, thank god you are not anywhere near our athletic dept with that defeatist attitude.  Good coaching makes a huge difference so no, it will not be as big of a rebuilding project as you think if we get the right coach.  3-4 years tops to win the west if not sooner.

Wouldn't be surprised if Scott brings a couple of his recruits with him. As far as transfers go, the only realistic one I can think of is Noah Vedral coming back with three years to play.

So say Lee enters draft, Vedral and Wilson come.

POB - RS SOPH

GEBBIA - RS FROSH

VEDRAL- has to sit out a year but is a RS SOPH in 2019 Season

WILSON - RS SOPH eligible to play

Would be a talented group for Frosty the Coachman to work with.

I can only imagine the outright hatred for Mike Riley if he were to offer a QB with a rating of .8056.

You mean like Tanner Lee? A guy who could come in and operate his system right away like Vedral would be able to?

Plus he is local to boot?

My bad, Lee was only a 79

I think POB is transferring and Gebbia will be on the fence

Which makes it even more important we get both of those guys to transfer.

PS I doubt they would both transfer considering they'd be throwing away the chance to be the starting QB.

You don't think that Wilson would start? I think with two transfers coming in with a new system runs off a lot of QBs. Gebbia could stay and try to take the reigns which is possible

Lee was not recruited to Nebraska right out of high school at a 79 was he?

 you're reaching! Reach higher!

Its the EXACT SAME scenario. Vedral wasn't recruiting to NE out of hs as a 81 either.

Good point. I guess it's possible they could both transfer out if Wilson came. IF, those guys transferred to Nebraska, I suppose a lot of it would be timing.

You'd guess that they would go through spring ball and try to win the job. If they were unsuccessful, I suppose then they could transfer. They will have to sit out a year regardless.

Noah Vedral - serviceable backup familiar with the offense.

Sounds like this will happen.

I would think even though Vedral would have to sit out that he would be worth a scholarship simply for the fact that he can help the other QBs along since he has a head start on the playbook.

My prediction for our QB room is gonna be in no specific order....

Wilson RS SO

Vedral RS SO in 2019(sitting out a year)

Gebbia RS FR

POB RS SO

Martinez FR

I cant speak for everyone. He wont leave but it doesnt mean he cant agree to an offer with a delayed announcement. But my thought is that Florida has no coach thus they could throw out an offer under the table right now. So Hypothetical scenario. Lets say Nebraska is #1 option for frost and florida would be #2. Say next week Florida offers $5 million a year to frost with a 2 week expiration date on the offer. That would be pretty hard to turn down that money for your #2 option if you dont even know for sure if your #1 option will have a coaching vacancy or if you will get offered the job from nebraska. It would be pretty easy for Florida to do something like that without anyone knowing. They are both in florida so tracking travel etc would be pretty hard to follow if they met.

My only point being they have a leg up on trying to secure him before we even know if we will fire Riley. Assuming Frost is the best candidate and who we want- that would suck to lose out to Florida.

This aged well

nobody has mentioned this possibility but any chance Milton would transfer here? Still has a RS year available and would be able to start 2 years here

Why would he? He'll be the returning starter for an undefeated team.

Good news about Frost and Co down doing bowl prep at UCF. Now he can hit a few guys up about transferring to NU. haha. Milton perhaps.

Perhaps not. Vedral is enough, we don't need to raid their entire QB room. That would be low.

How about they keep vedral and we steal milton? Its admirable you want everyone to be good- but I am concerned with Nebraska being good.

That's an NCAA violation. And you can bet your bottom dollar UCF compliance people are watching them like hawks.

Bend don't break

Well, considering "another school cannot contact you and encourage you to transfer" there's not a lot of room for bending without getting reported by UCF.

Plus, transfers must sit out a year, so they're not as helpful as simply recruiting a player.

FWIW, UCF board thinks Trysten Hill, sophomore DE, is requesting a transfer to follow Chinander....wants to stay a 3-4 DE instead of a 4-3 DT.

I'd take him in a heart beat, he wrecked Auburn's oline all game.

Yeah.  6' 3" 313 lbs.  That works.

Someone smarter than me can maybe shed some light in terms of what UCF can to do to keep him.  Deny the request?

Technically they don't have to grant the request, but that would be a bad look.

As long as Bill Snyder isn't involved, could work out.

These two kids will be rSR's but doesn't mean that they will graduate in May or want to follow Frost. Both are studs

WR Tre'Quan Smith: 1,171 yds and 13 TD

DB Kyle Gibson: 64 tackles, 4 INT

The big question for some of these guys that have 1 year left is what team will actually be better next year and give them more publicity? Nebraska or UCF.

I get in 2-3 years with this staff we should be in a better place for players to get more pub but if I am a Grad transfer candidate, I might stick with UCF where they could still be good enough to win a  lot of ball games next year even with a new staff.

If they lose even 1-2 games next year they are looking at a Birmingham or Liberty bowl and become an after thought real quick. A good comparison might be Western Michigan after Fleck left. Bet they haven't even crossed people's minds since that great run they had.

I'd be surprised if Smith isn't NFL bound, same with Mike Hughes.

Idk about better, but more publicity will be N, no question.

Won a lot of money betting against them this year...

Frost has been on record more or less imploring Knight players to stay at UCF

At the same time, I doubt he's gonna say no to someone insisting on joining him.

Of course not, but he strongly wants those kids to stay.  He also said that of the recruiting class he had built there, but we’ve seen that play out differently

And I actually believe that. Most coaches come off as used-car salesman but I think Frost is honest when he says he cared and loved UCF. If UCF actually would have made the college playoffs I think he would have stayed but he wants to win a National Championship and he knows he cant do that at UCF.
